Process

Element Project

objective: To create a poster about one of the periodic elements for a middle school. The poster should have a ‘catch’ and teach the middle school students at least one important thing about the element. I chose Iron, having a love for metals that rust and decay. I focused on the three metals that iron can produce: Steel, Wrought Iron, & Cast Iron. In my poster I used letters made out of the element in different ways.

Iron is a chemical element with symbol Fe and atomic number 26. Iron metal has been used since ancient times. Steels are by far the most common metals in industrial use. Wrought iron is tough, malleable, ductile, corrosion-resistant and easily welded. Cast irons are used as engineering materials, pipes, machines and automotive parts parts. It is resistant to destruction and weakening by oxidation or rust.
