☕ adventure sports?
honestly, my first thought was "I have no thoughts" but then I googled to get an agreed-upon definition (is rock climbing an adventure sport? if so, then good!) and found out about HORSE SURFING

This is honestly one of my favourite things about the Old Kingdom books/Garth Nix as an author, that he writes about teenaged girls and very matter-of-factly talks about periods because that's part of most teenage girls' experience
right? it's great! i also love that Sabriel's first instinct is "go into Death" rather than "ask one of the teachers"! it makes total sense - the sending isn't going to judge you - but it's very adorable.
Atalanta and/or Daphnis, for the myth meme!
There's a moment, near the start, when I seethe shape of the race. They're all different, you know, though they end the same: I cross the line, panting a little (but only a little), and feel, each time,less and less of the exultation of victory.It outpaces me. One day it will be too far for meto ever dream of catching it. I take my opponent's measure. This one is tall, this one short, with dense muscles; this one's a stamina runner, that one's a sprinter. I pace myself. It's not about them, mostly: it's about my legs, my lungs, my arms. Then Melager came. I saw the apples. Where would he hide them? I saw him, far behind me, wind up and throw. The apple sailed, golden as remembered glory. I chased it. Better to let that exultation go,to stop running, remembering it still,than to be victorious and feel no joy.

{send me an emoji for a description of a fantasy person, place, or thing, in this case, a book}
I tried to check an 1409 edition Q'esele's journals of the War out of Arion's library, in hopes that my professor was right and they had edited it in the 1642 edition, and they refused because it was "too old."
"What," I said, standing there in a tunic with a hole in the side and frayed sleeves, "you don't trust me?"
The librarian gave me a look.
Q'esele was the Queen's strategist, and had put detailed reminiscences of her relationship with the members of the court into her military book. It was a different time. These were all much too scandalous for the prudes in the seventeenth century, so, according to my professor, they cut her notes along the lines of "So there are two reasons why Ystei is called 'Silver-Tongue' ;)."

I kind of want to play rugby after reading your posts about it :)
omg yes! like seriously, if you want to play rugby, you should play. And again, this is to everyone: rugby sounds scary (full contact, no protection), and I won't pretend we didn't have bad injuries (a torn acl at a scrimmage is the worst),
but there is a place for every body type on a 15s team -- our hooker [the person who tries to get the ball in a scrum] was 5 feet 2 inches and 135 pounds (I benchpressed her once); backs are tall and willowy; I was, you know, 200 pounds and not into running more than I had to.
It's a very exhausting sport, because there's a lot of getting up after being tackled, and halves are 40 minutes and don't have breaks, but the physicality and tactics of it are incredibly satisfying.
☕️ The Vorkosigan Saga?
I read the ones with Cordelia as a main character and loved them, then started the first one with Miles, found him completely unbearable, and then stopped. I know a lot of people really like them, and I wish I liked Miles enough that I could stand to be in his company for long enough to figure out if I did.
