Fehérlófia descends the twisted roots of Turkey Oak. Apollo calls into the darkness of Python's cave...
Michael flies into the gaping mouth of Hell.
Michealmas is upon us. In my practice this is the time of year in which we say goodbye and goodnight to The Sun.
The Sun will slumber and will not awake until spring.
The Sun will descend into darkness and will not return until The Beast is slain.
While Michael traverses the bowels of Hell, there is no one to survey the skies- and so The Wild Hunt begins.
Hey real quick: Does anyone have a good name for the anniversary of a legal name and gender change? I’ve been calling it my “2nd Birthday” but that’s gonna sound entitled if I say it to other people who don’t know me and calling it my “Anniversary” will get confusing.
It’s Sun-Day (the first day that the UV goes over a “2” after the long winter rest)!!!!
Normally I would celebrate by making a sun inspired dinner (maybe heat up frozen food made in the height of summer) but I’m headed out to dinner with my parents so I will have to try to find something sun-worthy on the menu. Not even sure where we’re going yet - Thai, Indian, or Mexican. (All worthy Sun cuisines though)

Monday, March 11, 2019 Waxing Moon Mercury Retrograde My birthday
Today is my birthday, which is always a mixed day. I want to have a happy day, but it’s hard not to beat myself up about not getting everything done in the previous year that I wished.
So, today, I have to be kind to myself.
That doesn’t mean lowering my standards or letting myself off the hook. But it means giving myself today as a…

Personal Holidays
Yesterday: International Bad Brain Day. Whatever it is you're trying to do, it just doesn't work. Celebrate by attempting to be a functional human being, leaving the house 4 hours late for that thing you were gonna do, walking back to the house twice for stuff you forgot, forgetting to email the professor data for thesis, failing to feed yourself, and working on a "just a warm-up" project for 14 hours straight.
Today: National Self-Indulgent Trashfire/Bad Life Choices Day (Observed). Celebrate by staying up til 7am working/doing art, eating donut holes for pre-bed breakfast, and having a righteous dance party in your Star Wars boxers with your two very confused cats. Take a nap and try to salvage your life cos you have important meetings todGODDAMNIT >___< you forgot to email the dean about attending your midterm presentation next week. Whatever, he doesn't like you anyway.
did you perform any special rituals for your pantheon over the holidays? I was just curious about seasonal rituals you practice for The Returning. Thanks!
The Winter Solstice is my second vigil of the year, it symbolizes Brona's Return after Her sacrifice and Fall. I keep vigil from sunset to sunrise (or as close as I can manage, with work these last few years I've had to start late). Where the Vigil of the Fall is about Her sacrifice and the remembering why I began working on the Returning, the Vigil of the Long Night is about the completion of the task and the reestablishment of the Forgotten Ones. I also marked something that I'm tentatively calling the Night of Need. Which is an evening/night of fasting to thank Amaranth and Drove for their bounty and the food and warmth their children give us. I've been doing it on occasion of the first major winter storm, the kind of night that used to mean starvation and freezing. Since I live in New York, this recent blizzard was a wonderful night for the occasion. I didn't eat for as long as the snow fell, and I didn't wear anything that came from and animal (which for me is mostly wool and leather, but this time of year really wool). I'm refining that second part because of the prevalence of such fibers. A lot of the holidays are based on seasonal markings, though most of them are markers like "the first small white flowers are blooming," or, "the first sighting of dolphins off the coast," rather than days like solstices or equinoxes.
Alcohol and Lord of the Rings.
