Confession
I have a new favorite Sony product. I feel like I'm cheating on my multitude of other great Sony products, but it is what it is. I suspect that I'll regularly be sneaking off to Tysons Corner to play with this new product, at least until I buy one for myself. You're probably wondering what this product is. No, it's not one of the phenomenal NEX cameras--though I want one of those, too. It's not a VAIO desktop computer. It's not really a TV, either. Well, what is it? I've got practically everything else! I'll tell you....it's Sony's newest gadget, the Personal 3D Viewer. To me this is the epitome of everything a college student needs, especially within the tight confines of a dorm room (or a small dark room in the basement, like I have...). Why?
It's small: Fits right on your head quite nicely. This is also nice because it's not exactly easy to cart a TV to/from school every year. Plus, now you'll have room for other important stuff in the car.
It's personal: What I mean is you are the only one that can see or hear it. Got a cranky roommate that calls you out for playing your video games too loud, or too late--or both? Doesn't matter if you have your own Personal 3D Viewer. You're the sole beneficiary.
It's immersive: I tried it out hooked up to a PS3, and felt like I was right there in the game. With the visor feeding the images directly in front of your eyes, the image is the equivalent of a 150" 3D TV. That's definitely not something you could fit in a dorm room, is it? The visor can be connected to gaming systems, blu-ray players, dvd players, making whatever entertainment preference you have truly your own experience. You live it.
The Personal 3D Viewer by Sony can be pre-ordered here: https://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&identifier=S_Personal_3DViewer
The best part about this-- it's selling for $799. You can't get a 40" 3D TV for that price, let alone one with a 150"-equivalent screen size.
