Izumi had been wandering around the park for more than half an hour searching for the perfect spot to lay down and read some Ungaretti, but she had been unable to find one. That is, until she noticed a a shadow under a tree that seemed comfortable enough for her to lay down for a few hours.
As she approached it, Izumi noticed another girl already already sitting there with her hands on a book. She sighed. It wasn't as if she would find a better place.
Um, seriously? How did you not know about that artist/author?? It's not like she isn't all over deviantart, didn't link to all of her other websites and journals, and furthermore, in her last entry say that she was really sick and hasn't written, drawn or otherwise contributed to the internet so far as we know in ALMOST 2 YEARS.
....then again, I guess not everyone is such an internet detective (read: creeper) like I am.

i never went to prom. wish there was some way i conceivably could have gone and enjoyed it, but at the time i knew it would have been miserable.
I had a lot of friends who skipped out on it, did "anti-prom" and just got together and had a LAN party.
I can't imagine that being very comfortable or fun, but at the same time there was a gay trans boy at my school (does that make sense?) who went to prom with his boyfriend and no one bothered him. But then your school was a different beast than mine.
I probably wouldn't have gone to any of these if I didn't have a steady bf, to be honest. I think once we went to the first one, we were sort of locked in this expectation that we would go to the rest of them.
I wasn't a big fan of other school events, I maybe went to 2 football games and I never attended homecoming. I remember after the senior banquet I left as soon as it was over.
Read more for lots of complaining and the consensus that "it wasn't quite worth it"
I went to Snoball junior and senior years, then 3 proms because my high school boyfriend went to another school. The actual dance part of it always sucked because of the city ordinance which meant it had to shut down by 11:30 to allow travel time to get us minors home before midnight.
High school anything is such a dramafest though. I'm not kidding about people breaking up every single time. I had a friend who broke it off with her boyfriend at the very end of the night at 3 separate dances. One she just didn't care for anymore but was too guilty to break up with him beforehand, another was a drunk 20 year old asshole, and the last one broke up with her! (Karma?)
Another time, a guy in our group brought a sophomore to junior prom and she was a super high maintenance brat. The guys had planned a really nice day starting with a picnic at the park and she didn't show up for that because she was getting her hair and nails done. Then she showed up an hour late to pictures and where we were meeting to get the limo and nearly lost our dinner reservation. She ignored her date all night and then left early!!
For senior prom we went to the dollar store and party mart and made this gift baskets for all the couples with random stuff like glowsticks, slap bracelets, candy, etc.
My bf's mom went to a lot of work for the before party. Because the theme was "An Evening in Paris", she made adorable little french pastries, hors d'oeuvres and champagne cocktails for the parents. Then when we returned from prom she had coffee and more pastries. Of course, yet another couple broke up in the middle of the dance so we had to wait around for the limo to take a sobbing 17 year old girl home. Then another couple decided they were going to bounce too, so there were only 4 people who came back to enjoy the poor woman's hard work.
Yeah. High school dances. I dunno.
I just liked picking out fluffy dresses (I still have them all!) and planning the food!! I did fondue one year which was really fun.
Oh! and a bunch of my pictures actually made it in the yearbook one year because they totally forgot to send someone to take pictures of snoball, so that's kind of funny, and it was good for some of the less ~popular~ kids (my friends, hehe) to get in there.
