“Laito!”
It happened too fast for her to manage more than his name. The movement was far too quick for her to follow with her eyes, and she just barely had time to acknowledge the chill of his grip on her arm before she was pulled, seemingly weightless for half a moment before she found herself pinned by the length of him. She stared up at him, throat tight with the noise of surprise she hadn’t had time to make. She blinked up at him, her expression not even half surprised it was unfriendly.
Or at least it would’ve been had she not been caught between trying to glare at him and avoid looking at his face altogether. One couldn’t manage a good angry face and be embarrassed at the same time. The two either canceled each other out or melded to form outrage and she wasn’t there yet. She was willing to bet that it’s where she was headed though, it was after all where most of her interactions with Laito ended.
She didn’t need to look at him to know his current smile was all but saturated in smugness. Just the thought was enough to coax the first sparks of true irritation from her. Really at this point was preying on her altruism something he still considered fun? It’s not like she made it difficult and she’d have thought he’d have gotten bored of doing so by now. Or so she’d hoped…
Rather than answering his words she put that very thought in the look she gave him, the expression a clear statement of ‘Like that was hard, seriously be proud.’. She managed to hide the roll of her eyes by turning her face away and squirming at the rather compromising position he’d put them in, face flushing with the full awareness of it.
She’d managed to land in a way that had kept one of her legs free and it was both a help and a hindrance in it put him almost perfectly atop her. The apprehension she felt was enough to spur her to action and she used that free leg now to slip it up the length of his own to find and press against the support beam just below. She gripped his arms with her hands and pushed against him there while she pressed hard at the beam with her foot to scoot herself further up the couch and his body. Obviously, there was no legitimate hope of her getting away unless he released her, she accepted that. But she didn’t have to be ok with the situation as a whole or deal with parts of him pressing against parts of her. Her nerve just wasn’t good enough to ignore that.
She kept her hands on his arms, eyes wide and blinking down at him, her heart hammering all the harder as she realized all too late her mistake. The change in position had simultaneously made things better, and worse in while she’d managed to save herself some embarrassment she was now further up the couch then him. So much so that she’d managed to put him almost perfectly face level with her throat. Had she been any less catholic she might’ve figured this the perfect moment for a particular curse. Instead, though she let it echo her mind as she pushed hard at him with her hands, shifted her hips and squirmed in an attempt to gain even an inch more of distance from his too close face as she spoke.
“Let me up Laito-kun. Please.” She said, adding the please as the afterthought it’d been. It’s not like it ever hurt to be polite first even if it seemed to seldom work for her in these sorts of situations…
