How to Suitably Brush Dogs Who Have Shorter Coats
There are many different breeds of dogs, some have longer coats whereas some have shorter ones. Also, many dog breeds have double coats, the coarser and thicker hair on the outside but softer hair when you go deeper.
So how do you take care of your dog’s coat if it is a short one and what type of brush should you use? Let’s take a look.
You have to understand though that some dogs have silkier hair whereas others have thicker hair even though they may be short.
Therefore, for breeds like Labrador retrievers, pugs and other similar dogs with a short coat that sheds regularly, bristle-wire slicker brushes are a go-to option due to their ability to keep the coat shiny and remove the loose hair.
Some dogs have a very short coat that is even less than half an inch. These breeds include Boxer, Doberman, Whippet and others. A rubber curry brush is a great resource when you have to brush dogs with hairs as short as this.
Keep in mind that while brushing a dog, you should make sure that it doesn’t feel the brush pricking into its skin as that can be very uncomfortable and hostile experience for a dog. So go about the whole process very gently and do it twice if you are not satisfied.
