Have I mentioned how we now own two kittens? What a way to start the new year! Some friends of mine were looking for a good home for these two - brother and sister who couldn't be separated - and they asked if my family would like them. We haven't had a cat in years, never had more than one let alone kittens. But we took them in last night and they are so cute, so playful and sweet 💕💕💕 We named the grey one - the girl - Smokey, and her brother, the black and white one, Salem. Salem's a bit more jumpy than his sister but compared to last night, he's gotten a lot more comfortable with us. NEED SOME HELP!

This is Kelly. Kelly and her sister Kiara are around 1 ¾ years old and live by my mother for 1 ½ years. Both were born on the streets and lived the first weeks of their lives there until they came into the shelter and shortly after were adopted by my mom.

What the shelter didn’t tell; both had darm parasites and thus bad diarrhea. (Bye carpet!) After weeks of treatment both recovered and managed to gather trust to humans. They still occasionally will look at feet and shoes in fear because I’m pretty sure they got kicked as kittens.

Kiara turned out to be a elegant diva, while Kelly turned out to be a lap cat. Both really love my mom and will snuggle with her in the night.

But like life can be a bitch. On easter sunday (12.4.2020) evening I got a call from my mom. Kelly somehow managed to get past the security grid of the bedroom window and fell down from the second floor. Because of the idiot neighbour who stores some roof tiles right between the two houses for years, Kelly fell unlucky.

She broke her hip joint and also injured her lung!

Since sunday she is in the veterinary clinic and she can’t get operated yet because of the air and water in her lungs.

With each day that passes the treatment costs rise! So far the costs are at 600€ and it’s estimated it will be at 1.500€ (that’s about 1.632$) after the operation! So far the vet clinic is okay with a 4-month instalment payment but I know my mom can’t afford that in such a short time! Covid-19 even prevents that she can visit her cat!

I really hate to do this and need to swallow my pride for it; but here I ask for your help!

Even if you just can spend 1€ it would help and of course would be cherished! My mother doesn’t know I ask for donations yet but I will tell her soon.

I also sew and sell a few hammocks for pet rats to gather money!

#Caturday sharing an update about my Mowe2x. We were on vacation when we learned from Mom that my cat Mowe had her kittens. Oh wow! The kittens are still too little and delicate that we haven't taken them out of the box. They actually had a smaller and more crowded box. I suppose that was one reason why Mowe decided one early morning to move her kittens to another place. The funny thing is my mom is now well-known in our apartment complex to be a cat lady. The neighbors upstairs heard she was looking for her cat and brought home Mowe2x and her kittens. This time they have a much bigger box. I guess Mowe just wanted to make sure her kittens are comfy and safe. I can't wait till the kittens are bigger. We haven't given them names yet. We'll come to that!

I always thought “calico” was its own cat breed, but apparently it’s actually just a coat pattern. The crazy part is how much genetics are involved with them.
