i almost forgot i wanted to make a call out post to a local exotic pet store. and it makes me upset that i even have to do this.

they seem to get good reviews right? so Hissy whats wrong? lemme tell you my sweet lings.
they do not care for their animals the way they should. there is always two uninterested workers there behind the desk you know, not going around and caring for the animals. most of whom do not have fresh water or food. many of the animals are on wrong substrates (they have a rosy sand boa on walnut shell and sand mix with no hides at all) they have buns and guinea pigs in together and last time i was there i noticed a few of the babes dragging limbs or breathing hard. and when i pointed this out to the workers they just shrugged and said they had probably been fighting. the words fancy was thrown around willy nilly “fancy mice, fancy gecko, fancy corn snake, fancy bearded dragon” all who were incorrectly housed with minimal lighting and barely any heat.
ive already told newbae we will not be going back there even for mealworms because not only are they over priced ( 10 cents a worm) but they were listless and did not perk up at all even when given food and care. the geckos refuse to eat them as well, going only for the fat happy and thriving ones from Acks exotics in cicero
the only thing that seemed to be thriving there at petersons was the Degus who were all alert and ready to play and get up to hijinks
so please be careful going there. and spread the word.
