American longhair cat
American Longhair cats have a soft personality yet they tend to be a bit independent. They don’t require much care or affection and they are not lap-cats, however they can be great companions for older people or house-bound folks long as their grooming needs are met. Although they don’t require much attention, the long coat requires some care and brushing frequently.
They are considered to be more active than Persians, but they remain self-contained and easy going pets.
They are very friendly, easy going, adaptable, smart and trainable. These cats tend to be more active than their ancestors. They are more athletic than the Persian cats and friendlier than American shorthair cats, friendly with other animals including dogs. They are known to be very friendly with everyone and with all animals, that’s why they are commonly wanted as family pets and therapy cats.
However, they don’t feel the same way towards small animals. They are actually natural hunters when it comes to small animals, especially mice.
These cats enjoy outdoors very much and may spend a lot of time watching from the window. It’s not really a problem though since they are easily trainable and may be taken to a little outdoor stroll. Some would say they are very dog-like cats.
