JATP Shoutout Saturday

It's no longer @jatp-week's Shoutout Saturday because unfortunately stuff happened and I couldn't post yesterday but I thought this is still a perfect opportunity to give a shoutout to all the amazing people who have enriched my fandom experience over the last five years.

Being in this fandom hasn't always been easy (*cough* blacklist *cough*) but you guys made it all worth it. I can definitely say this fandom changed the trajectory of my life. It made me write more fics than I've ever written for a fandom before: 100 FICS!!! (okay the number is a bit wobbly because some of those are just ficlet collections but shhh, three ficlets in a trenchcoat are basically a fic, right?). And I met so so many cool people I can't even count them.

I hope I haven't forgotten anyone but I've talked with A LOT of people these last five years!! If I have forgotten you on this list, I am truly sorry. Feel free to drop into my inbox with a coffee and a complaint and we can chat about it ;D

Extra shoutout to anyone who has ever left a kind comment on one of my (100!!!) fics whose tumblr name I don't know/couldn't find. I promise I appreciate every single one of them and you!!

Putting the actual list under a readmore (in alphabetical order) because, as I said, it's A LOT of people from these five years. Concerning the Wip Tag Game - You know I love me some Saga of Toast and I can't remember what you had planned next for that. Also In the Heat of the Moment isn't ringing any bells so... I'd like to hear about that too. 😇

I'm honestly not sure what the immediate plans were but have a bit of brainstorming @innytoes and I did for later in the series 😆:

He builds a nest under their bed and sometimes they hear strange sounds from there but Alex is okay with a monster under his bed if he gets Willie into his bed Willie: we have a monster under the bed Alex: Honestly this is an improvement, Mittens used to come sit on my face at 3am to try and murder me because he wanted kibble Alex: just so you know, you'll get the monster in the divorce Willie: well, first we'd have to marry Alex: .... OKAY omg least romantic proposal ever it's perfect, they've just woken up because Toast was torturing them at 5 am, hair a mess, Alex falls back asleep and gets some panic later in the day when he remembers Alex: WILLIE! ARE WE ENGAGED???? willie was planning on proposing but he lost the rings like two weeks ago (hint: they're under the bed) they're hidden in a sock that later resurfaces and Alex finds them in the washing machine Willie: alex why are you crying over laundry did Toast throw up in the hamper again?

As for "Heat of the Moment" ... it's @innytoes' fault (again). She wrote an omegaverse "Willie gets sold to the band" poly ficlet ages ago (which is great, go read it) and my Willex brain was like "okay but what if Willex 🥺" and Inny being a cool and enabling friend was like "go for it". I have not gone for it yet. I've also never written omegaverse or thought I would ever write one but ... yeah. The idea is persistently there in my brain so maybe one day.

Basically Alex is an alpha who hates being one and the expectations his parents had for him but then Sunset Curve plays the HGC and he meets Willie (charming omega) who is about to be sold to some sleezy dude so Alex makes a snap decision and buys Willie. Meaning he now has barely any money left and also an omega who is super grateful to him but Alex is Very Against omega ownership and also against accepting sexual favours given out of gratitude (although Willie is also very smitten with him) so there's a lot of mutual pining happening while Alex keeps Willie at arms length. They figure it out in the end, of course, and Alex gets to be a doting alpha.

omg i remember that blacklist! that was peak cliquey puritan nonsense.

It was! Not a great way to start a Monday tbh but I was lucky because apart from being on the list, I didn’t get any hate. Just outpourings of love and support and new followers that were kinda making me anxious because "okay thanks but what are you doing here? Do you even like my blog?" 😂

I'm glad it didn't blow up more. It did inspire more smut to be written/posted so yay but I also know it drove some people out of the fandom and I was very paranoid about entering any fandom events that paired up people for the longest time afterwards.

And sometimes I wonder if the willex tag isn't half as dead to people who weren't around at the time and entered the fandom later ...

Honestly, I've been gnawing away at this thing for so long I think I've shared pretty much all the good bits by now (over the literal years). But I went back to the beginning because that means it's probably been a while since I've shared it (if I shared it before) and it might be new to you.

Basic premise of the fic: Alex's parents throw him out after he tells them he's gay, he immediately gets into a accident and the Pattersons then take him in. A very self-indulgent Alex centric fic where he gets all the love (after some hurt). Also Willex happens eventually because of course it does ;D

Luke was mortified when his mom showed up at the garage. 

He couldn’t even remember the last time they had talked more than two sentences without shouting at each other and he was this close to just grabbing his stuff and leaving at any given second. There was a bag stashed in his wardrobe for the moment ‘not yet’ turned into ‘now’ and Luke was pretty sure he was going to have use of it before the year was out even though he wished he wouldn’t.

The garage was his refuge, the one place that was his and his friends’ alone; a place where no parents were ever allowed. But before he could utter more than a shocked and annoyed “Mom,” jumping up from the rickety lawn chair as if to intercept her, she was already talking:

“Luke, get your things.” She glanced at Reggie and Bobby who were sitting on the couch, one open mouthed, the other frowning. “You boys better do, too.”

Luke crossed his arms and glared at his mother, not moving an inch. “What the fuck, mom? We’re having band practice. We’re just waiting for Alex and then—”

But his mom didn’t let him finish. “There’s been an accident. Alex is in the hospital and I’m going to take you there.”

Luke experienced a blissful second before his brain caught up, a second of not thinking or feeling anything other than the normal teenage anger of seeing his mom somewhere she wasn’t supposed to be, before everything came crashing in at once.

There was no more argument.

Several Sentences Sunday Tuesday

Willie laughed, his whole upper body swaying with the motion. “I’m sure you’ve disappointed countless girls by not asking them to a school dance before.” “As if there’d ever been a chance of that!”  Willie giggled even harder at the face Alex had involuntarily made at the thought.

wip game: Redefining Home aka The Alex Adoption Fic pls :)

Thank youuu, here you go, hunny. One of the latest bits I've written (beware of spoilers, duh ;D):

He hadn’t once looked at his mom during his speech (not the most eloquent one he’d ever made, but at least he’d made it all the way through). But now he looked up, a little afraid of what he’d find in his mom’s face.

But from all the reactions he had anticipated, from worst to best, he hadn’t exactly expected her to wipe her eyes and smile at him so watery.

“Do you … do you think that would be a good idea?” he ventured when she didn’t say anything.

His mom inhaled deeply and then reached for his hands. “I think it’s a wonderful idea, Luke. Though … you do know you’ll still have classes and need to learn so much? And I’m afraid nursing school costs money, too, but we’ll figure something out so please don’t worry about that.”

“I … yeah, I know there’s a lot to learn but I mean, it’s all, like, important, real stuff.”

His mom laughed and nodded. “It’s more geared towards real world application than, say, history, that’s for certain.”

“Mom! Don’t let Dad hear that!”

Now Luke was laughing too. His mom always looked so much younger when she was laughing and Luke squeezed her hands in his, once again reminded that, for all their differences, he did love his mom a lot.

And he knew she loved him, too.

Even if he wasn’t quite the perfect son she had hoped for. Well, Alex could fill that role now much better than Luke, and Luke would enjoy the freedom to just be who he was. And might yet become.

Alex is pretty bored as a prince but all that changes when his parents piss of the evil fairy Covington and he gets turned into a squirrel. Truly a big change to his life but then he finds his One True Love in a beautiful peasant boy in the forest (who is not a peasant at all!) and that's just the beginning of it.

Sleeping Beauty AU but the handsome prince was turned into an anxious squirrel.

Hi there!!!! I'm so sorry it took me so long to answer (waves vaguely at RL and brain). But thank you so much!!

It's been a minute since I've thought about The Saga of Toast, aka the 'Alex has a very hot neighbour and a very chaotic cat' series I started writing because of @innytoes brainstorming it with me.

I had a look in the document just now and found that (aside from all the brainstorming notes and random ideas), I had actually started a new ficlet in the series. Completely forgot about that one. I guess because I wasn't sure where it was going or what I wanted to do with it. Have the beginning anyway ;D

WIP Game

Alex was very aware that he had a strange relationship with the door to his apartment. The thing was, he could never be quite sure when to expect his hot neighbour to come knocking and he could know even less what to expect when he did.

So his front door had taken on a very weird place in his head. It was like a game show. Find the door with Willie behind it. There’s a 50/50 chance if you’re just bold enough.

But Alex didn’t even need to be bold, he just had to wait for Willie to knock so that’s what he found himself doing. There was no reason to expect Willie at every hour of the day whenever he was home but that was exactly why Alex found himself waiting all the time.

It was Sir Mitten’s fault of course.

But also his own for letting Willie occupy such a vast place in his mind.
