"I know." He said with a nod. "It's alright." He looked at his sister in law. "Hey. It's me you know. Tre. You don't have to pretend to be strong around me. He smiled. "You can yell and scream, cry whatever. It's me Sel. I'm not Artie or Ollie. I'm not JJ and what he's going through it's scary I know. Trust me. I'm scared too, but I want to make sure that you're alright."

Maryanne looked down at her papers. "I know that Jude was nervous about coming here when he got his letter of acceptance, but he's been doing really well. In my class especially, he loves learning about wood nymphs and dryads." She smiled. "I think the other day when we started the study of them it was the first time I'd seen him smile. I was please to see it." She went on.

"He does struggle a bit when it comes to working with the girls in class but he's seemed to grow close to a fellow classmate, Camila. She's very kind to him. Helps him with his work when he struggles, keeps an eye on him. I think it's been helping him. You have a very remarkable son, Mrs. Blackthorne."

     Junior sat on the bleacher and laced up his new skates. He already didn’t like the fit. He’d been in skates since he was a toddler but those were hockey skates. These were figure skates and he was already annoyed with them, and this situation. His last hit took him out of hockey for what sounded like forever. However there was still a chance for him to make it to the Olympics. 

   Pairs figure skating. He’s grown up on the ice and he was strong. It couldn’t be that hard. He made his way onto ice. His new partner was already out there warming up. He didn’t get half way to the middle of the rink when leaned forwards on his skates and they caught. “Shit!” He fell forwards. 

   Junior let out a groan. “Dammit.” He didn’t fall, he never fell. He was Junior LeGume. He sat up and looked down at the skate. His fingers ran over the tip of the blade. It was jagged, like teeth. “That’s gonna take some getting used to.” He sighed and laid back down on the ice.

   Junior looked at Selena. At her words he shook his head. “No.” He tells her. “You’re not bad. Not at all.” He leaned back against the stairs. He looked down at the party happening on the floor below.

   “You know I hate parties.” He admitted. “They’re always too loud and there’s way too many people at them. Yet I always go to them. At least the ones you guys host.” Junior looks at her. “I would tell myself it was the best place to get drunk or high.” He tells her.

   “That’s not it. It was never it. It was always cause of you. Seeing you always makes me happy.”

    It was late, school and practice had been done for hours. He was in the weight room, taking his anger out on a sand bag. His knuckles were sore and he knew they’d be bruised tomorrow. JJ. He heard his name from what sounded like a million miles away. JJ. Again. The voice brought him back and calmed him. He put his hands on the bag and rest his head against his. His heart racing in his chest, pounding in his ears.

    Junior sat on her bed. He brought the bottle he’d snagged from the party he was at to his lips and took a long swing. The alcohol burned going down. He let out a sigh as he put the cap back on. He set it down and laid back. He had trouble focusing his eyes on one thing. Jared had tried to drive him home but Junior made him stop here. He couldn’t face he mom. Not like this. 

   The door opened and he sat up. “Sel...” He said. “Hi...” He looked at her with sad, drunken eyes. “I know I should have used the door but I didn’t want anyone else to catch me.” He stumbled off the bed and sighed. “Shit.” He groaned. “You look so pretty. I wanted to see you. I’m not gonna lie I’ve had a BIT to drink. Jared made me leave the party. He drove me here.”  He frowned.

   “I’m sorry.”

   Junior plopped down on the couch. First his gloves came off, this the harness that held his knives. They clattered to the floor. He pulled off his cavalier vest. He winced. Without the pressure of all that he felt the blood seep into his shirt. “Sel...” He said looking down. Junior pulled the black shirt over his head.

    “Baby...” Blue eyes fluttered.
