#phasma's armor

I just finished Empire’s End this morning and now I keep wondering whether or not Phasma’s armor was salvaged from the original yacht or from one of the replicas of the Imperialis. 

And I wonder if she knows, or if she cares. I mean it seems like maybe she would if she went to all the trouble to have armor made from the salvage, but then again I guess the Imperialis replicas did play an important role from the First Order’s perspective. 

I guess it could depend on what values Phasma places on authenticity and symbolism. It could even be that she arrived in the Unknown Regions on one of those replica ships and later had the armor crafted from its salvage. 

So many possibilities

I headcanon Phasma related to Palpatine. It would actually make sense in canon given that Hux and Kylo are descendants of Imperial officers (Brendol Hux and Vader) so it's only meet that one of the three most important leaders (besides Snoke) of the First Order is a relative of the late emperor :)

Ooo, yes, I rather like this headcanon! I’m pretty sure Palpatine didn’t have any known relatives, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t have any. And tbh it definitely makes sense for a lot of the First Order officers to be descendants of Imperials who may have fled to the Unknown Regions following defeat. 

But I have to admit I’m also here for Phasma being nobody important (in terms of her heritage - there’s no doubt that she is important) and acquiring her position through hard work and skill. Partly because I think it’d be really interesting to see how this affected her relationship with Hux and Ren, both of whom could be seen as benefiting from nepotism.

It must take a lot of time for Phasma to put on those armors every morning :)

Oh, definitely. And I bet it took ages when she was getting that armor fitted, too. She might even require assistance from one of the troopers when she’s getting ready in the morning. Some of them probably consider this a great honour. 

Also I just love the fact that she had armor made from Palpatine’s yacht as a symbol of vast power because this is so over the top. But I imagine a lot of First Order officers like to have Imperial memorabilia and the like - I mean there were even a lot of New Republic senators who liked to collect stuff like this, so it doesn’t seem strange at all to think that someone like Phasma would be into this kind of thing. 

As well as the power associated with these objects, I like to think she appreciates them as historical items. It’s just, well, the First Order teach a very skewed version of history. So while she thinks she gets it, she may not actually understand the real significance of objects she comes across from the era of the Empire. But I’d like to see how she’d react to someone who challenged her knowledge of history - would she attempt to seek out the truth, or would she remain wilfully ignorant?
