How was the Father's holy domain? And why has he returned you to this mortal plane?

Phlogiston stared at the Burning Bug blankly, before finally saying, "... I have no idea what you're talking about. The Father... never summoned me?"

Phlogiston had been gathering more materials outside the Thicket when he was approached by the flea. Startled, he gazed at it, tilting his head. Ultimately, the Pysosopher decided the bugkisser wasn't a threat. "Er, hello," He said. "Kissing bugs... I've never done it before," He admitted. "But I've heard it's nice and would like to try it. Why do you ask?"

“Ah! Bugs of flame… my son might like to meet you!”

The shade lord appears

The Pyrosopher stared into the shadows as the shadows stared back with eight white eyes, and said, "WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU AND WHY WOULD YOUR SON WANT TO SEE ME?!?"

She put on a backpack of eight Wispfire lanterns, ready for a fight.

... As ready as she could be against the God of Gods, anyway.

*Familiar knocking on the door.*

Phlogiston had just been in the middle of creating a miracle when he heard knocking at his door. He put on his mask, and walked to the door, opening it, and seeing the Guardian-child on the other side.

"Oh, hello again, Guardian-child!" He greeted. "What are you here for?" The question may have sounded rude, but Phlogiston meant it politely. He just... wasn't great at phrasing things.

"...Hello? We have not... met before, have we?"

"No! We have not!" The Pyrosopher said. "I keep to my lab. I am Phlogiston the Pyrosopher. I am the one who built your Wispfire Lantern. You're welcome. I was born in the Thicket twenty years ago, and I am constantly working to improve our magic!"

”More of my children! Hello!!” *Ephemeral pats both of them on the head with a big smile on her face.*

Phlogiston was actually nearly Ephemeral's height, being much taller than your average Burning Bug, but still shorter. It was... a strange experience, to be patted on the head.

It hadn't been this way since before mother died.

"Uh, yes, hello. You are... the embodiment of the Wisp Thicket, yes?" Phlogiston asked.

"Head pats are almost as good as arson!" Ignipotence said abruptly and cheerfully.

The smell in the air was one of smoke and burning hair.

Hello again pyrosopherchild! A while back I acquired a substance known as "gasoline", but I have yet to conduct any experiments with it. I was told it is highly flammable. Would you care for any?

Phlogiston approached the door and opened it. "Oh! Hello, Guardian-child," The Pyrosopher said. "Yes, I would care for gasoline. Perhaps it will allow me to make the stronger Wispfire I seek... And I... I would like to apologize, for how I acted during the first time we spoke. It was unbecoming of me, and I will treat you with more kindness in the future."
