Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
So after a long hectic traveling day we finally made it safe and sound to Vietnam! We had to run around to get our visas but after that it was almost smooth sailing. We had ordered our visas online to pick up on arrival and that was the easiest and cheapest way to do it. They only cost us $35 and we had paid $15 for the online service. It worked out well for us but we did have to wait a bit for them to be ready. Any way after the visa thing we realized it was really late so we began to worry...the reason we were starting to worry is because we had paid $60 for a private taxi to pick us up and take us to our hotel but since our flight was delayed the taxi was no where in sight once we exited the airport. After being hustled and bustled by the hungry taxi drivers at the airport we managed to find a cheap ride which lead us to the wrong hotel. Well it was the right hotel name but in a different area. After getting help from the wrong hotel receptionists we headed to our right hotel only to arrive and have them tell me that my booking was for a single and not a double. What a headache! Mind you this all happened around 4am Vietnam time which is actual 6am our Korean time. So after arguing a bit the man budges and lets us finally check in (I had the proof that I booked a double so he had no choice but to let it go). We went to sleep around 5ish and decided to wake up by 9:30 so we can be out by 10:30 to explore the city. After a long day we did quite a bit but not nearly enough for my liking. One day is definitely not enough and I will return for much longer to Vietnam. I wanted to go to the museums and to see the tunnels but there was just no time left in our day. We did manage to walk around the Notre Dame Cathedral which made me super happy because ND is my alma mater from high school. Aside from that we did some other sight seeing and some shopping. We even managed to go out for drinks and man they were so cheap!! Actually good and drinks were super cheap here. I spent less than $3 on pho and less than $2 on a mixed drink. Even some clothes k bought were under 5. Oh and Pho was bomb FYI! If you are one of my close friends you know Pho is my ish! I wish I could've ate it all day! Oh well next time! Also as a side note it's super hot and humid and it's a nice change from the cold snow but damn my feet are swollen from flying and walking so much. Any who it's time for bed now! I overall liked it here but definitely need to come again and see more of the country. One city and one day is not enough. Just a little update I'm currently on a bus headed to Cambodia so hopefully when I get some wifi I can upload this bad boy. Until then adios!! P.s. I miss Korea! So sad but I do lol reverse culture shock to my system lol and it's pretty funny they have a Tours de Jours, Lotteria and a Family Mart which reminds me of home sweet home. Ok I'm done! I'm going to try and write everyday but we will see if that's realistic or not while I'm traveling around. If not I'll post when possible. Also this is all being typed on my phone so if things come out funny or are autocorrected my bad! Deuces <3
