Was there anything that inspired you when creating Nicholas and Phoebe Wright's personalities and occupations? Are there any differences to them in the canonverse? (since we don't know a whole lot about Nick's parents in canon DARN YOU CAPCOM!)

Well first difference is they ain’t dead in the Defenseverse lol.

I kind of wanted some aspects of Phoenix himself in both of his mother and father’s personality. This theme is showed how they share an aspect of their son right down to their names. As when I came up with their names I thought it’d be cool if they were named Phoebe and Nicholas—so when you combine it you get Phoenix.

I’ll get into their personality stuff in a second.

Phoenix’s mother is a journalist in both universes however she never pursued the promotion that Prosecutorverse Phoebe did, as I mentioned in the flashback of the last chapter, they moved into that house when Prosecutorverse mom got the promotion. Defenseverse Phoenix’s mom was content where she was at with her journalistic job. She turned down the promotion when it was offered to her while Prosecutorverse mom took the promotion.

Phoenix’s dad in both universes are a chiropractor. I thought it’d be a funny stealth joke that his dad is a chiropractor when you remember Nick’s CRIPPLING back problem that knocked him out cold for almost an entire day in Spirit of Justice. Maybe if he was home instead of overseas his dad could of helped and Maya wouldn’t of been accused of murder again rofl.

Phoenix’s mother represents Phoenix’s pursuit of the truth personality hence why she’s a journalist. Like her son she’s also really good with kids but also shares her son’s extremely stubborn will. Phoebe also is really good at tricking people she interviews into admitting what she needs to know. She also shares her son’s nack for getting in over their heads in a lot of situations. She also is extremely doting with Phoenix much like how Phoenix is with Trucy.

Phoenix’s father is a bit of a dork like his son, but also has Phoenix’s dry witty humor. Phoenix’s favorite color is blue just like his dad. He is extremely loyal too like his son, and protective of those he cares about. He also used a bit of a romantic sap when he first dated Phoenix’s mother—similar to how Phoenix was when dating “Dolly”/Iris. And much like his son, he always seems to attract some oddballs, for Phoenix in court, and Nicholas always seems to have “unique” patients...he always has a story to tell his wife and son about the oddball clients he gets.
