Had so much fun at @gameonexpo yesterday! Thanks for everyone who complemented my cosplay and asked for pictures!!! It really boosted my confidence 💕 I’m really happy how well Franziska Von Karma turned out and it was totally worth all the pin pricks on my hands 😂 Loved all the old games and consoles that were available to play and had a blast at the @blanktriggergamers panel! Overall a great day! Hopefully it won’t be a whole year before we get to go to another con!! So I know you all like progress pics, so here's a some pics from when I made Trucy's magic panties today (and last night)! First, I drafted a pattern. I drew out what I wanted it to look like and roughly how big I wanted it to be. I knew I had to gather the top part and the leg holes, so I created a pattern to accommodate that on tracing paper. I only made half a pattern to make sure the pieces were symmetrical. Next, I cut out the material. I used some leftover material from my prom dress, as I had coincidentally dyed it the exact color i needed for this prop. I then used some painters tape to mark where I wanted the pinstripes to be on the pants. After I did that, I mixed together some pink and red acrylic paint to create the right shade of magenta for Trucy's panties. I used a sponge brush to apply the paint to the spaces in between the tape. The next day, after deciding I was too tired to keep being neat, I started working on the heart and diamonds that are printed on the front of the underwear. I reused a lot of the tape I had used for the stripes to create stencils for the 3 shapes. Again, I mixed up some more paint and dabbed it on using the sponge brush. Dabbing just means you can avoid brush strokes and get an even layer. After all the paint had dried, I sewed the two pieces together, and then gathered the top and leg holes. I sewed on the pink ruffle trim to the edges as well. I had lucked out and found some of it at Joann's, and it's perfect. And it's done! Mostly. I still need to add a little bow to the front, but for the most part, this prop is done.
