Just attended Denyse Ritchie presentation on explicit phonemic instruction from Thrass Institute. Reinforcing that I was taught the wrong way to spell, read and write incorrectly. Bless the internet. Some days I search for stuff for potential lesson plan ideas and I don’t really find anything. 

Then tonight after a SUPER SUPER long day at work and going to my practicum (gotta build up that feet strength oof). I was feeling a bit paniced about my phonemic awareness lesson plan that’s due soon. Super picky/grouchy prof to boot. Found a GREAT song for word blend. Thank you teachers on youtube.

More letter sounds! We can't get enough! We had this leftover balloon archway that was starting to lose it's steam. We wrote the letters we've been working on on the balloons (f, m, s, l). The children picked a picture card and got to pop a balloon with the corresponding letter/beginning sound. Because the balloons were older and losing their fizzle, they did not pop super loud and this game worked out even better than I could have hoped!
