one-page RPG idea: two-player game where one is trying to burn down the Gävle Goat and the other is the exhausted local government trying to stop them
The news that Sony will no longer be making physical discs for new games starting January 2028 makes me doubt we'll get a physical disc release for Horizon 3...
Personal rant below the cut

Sorry, we're not doing physical treasure anymore

Watch people find a way to make physical copies of GTA 6. Ultimate Edition included. I call it now. It’ll happen. They might not be able to sell them but they’ll make their own for personal use. Watch that happen.
This is what happens when you limit, deny, revoke access rights from a consumer. The consumer finds a way of doing what you should already be doing for them because they won’t put up with having those options taken away from them. It is their legal right to do that.
You can’t stop them. You shouldn’t be stopping them.
You will have to fucking deal with it if you don’t like it.
Don’t strip consumers from their rights to their media!

After the AWFUL announcement from Sony about them ending physical game production in 2028, it has lit a fire in me that makes me wanna collect so many more physical games.
I wanna buy a god damn Sega Dreamcast, I want to buy an Xbox 360, I wanna start buying PS1 games because i have a PS2 and can play them on the console. Im going to pre order Splatoon Raiders physically soon.
Im gonna go to Japan next year and you know what stores that country has? Hard-Off stores. Im gonna get so many used retro games over there and make my wallet suffer.
I LOVE physical games, i love looking at their cover art, i love the manuals, i love the disc art and how creative they can be. Have you guys seen the manual for WarioWare Smooth Moves? Its like a friggen magazine its so cool.
Look at this disc art.
I know there's people out there who say "oh but I dont have space." For some of you, its probably true! But for others you can make space for games. You can buy small shelves and bookcases. There are media towers where you can slot DVD cases in. You CAN make the space for physical. And I promise you, swapping discs isnt a chore guys LMAO!
Support physical games if you can, please. Especially modern releases so we can tell these corpos that we give a shit about physical media. If movies, tv shows, music, esc, can still have physical media even when the majority of people use streaming or buy/rent digitally, then why cant games?
