It’s been an incredibly social start to the term! (Pictures to follow)
I had a rough go last term with making friends and once I made what I thought would be a good friend, he was unable to continue in our program. I thought that maybe I was doing something odd, socially speaking, but after talking to my sister we determined that it wasn’t me. I spoke to a few people about it, my husband and my 2nd-year buddy for example and we figured it was probably a presence thing. Since I live far enough from the campus it’s hard to make it back without a vehicle in the evenings to attend social gatherings. So, I put in the effort to get out with my classmates more and things have been going a lot better!
It means less sleep and less time to study but It’s not good for me to go to class and feel like I have no friends either. There needs to be a sense of balance and security in order to succeed in this program. We need each other. Even if it feels like I could be shooting myself in the foot as I try to find a good work/social balance, I think I will be the better for it.
First Friday back, there was a party!
Bachelor night! w/ sleepover at a classmate’s house.
There was a birthday party at Garrison Brewery. I went after going swing dancing.
