“Not-a-Superhero refuses heroics. Buvoli’s elusive, apologetic, definitely unheroic, and nearly immaterial protagonist is hardly a match for the supermodern villains he encounters [...] His saving grace is speed and mutability. In Buvoli’s flickering 16mm films or slideshows, fragmentary flipbooks, tentative drawings, and ethereal sculpture, Not-a-Superhero (’shy and clumsy as usual’) dissolves into the essence of movement itself.”
