Back to the Darkness
The magic had run it’s course, and Aidan feel back into a world of darkness. The world that hadn’t bothered him his entirely life, because it was the only thing he knew. But now everything had changed. He’d seen light. Colors. He knew what seeing felt like, and now it was gone again. He knew it was coming, but it still threw him off when the edges of his vision faded to black. The darkness spread until he couldn’t see anything. Luckily for him, he’d been at home, watching TV when it happened. He switched the TV off and remained still, fighting the panic that tried to wash over him.
He took a few deep breaths, closing his eyes and trying to control himself. It would be only too easy to let the panic win, to fall apart at the seams. He felt like if he moved a muscle now, the panic would take him and he’d be lost.
He sat still for about a half hour before he dared to stand up. He slowly made his way to the kitchen, needing something to take his mind off the sudden loss of sight. He reached for the cupboard that held his alcohol and pulled out a bottle, not knowing or caring what it was, then reached for a glass and poured himself some of the drink. He leaned against the counter and took a gulp of the drink, nose wrinkling a bit at the taste.
Part of him wished someone would show up and just be there so he could talk to them and not feel so alone, while the other part wished no one came by to see him like this.
