Harvey's pretty in pastels in these behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Pickleheads shared by director Josh Flanagan.
ever learn about the vinegar tasters?
it's an allegory that got popular in ancient chinese paintings depicting confucius, buddha, and lao tzu standing around a pot of vinegar and each trying a cup.
confucius puckers at the sourness. being concerned with the present and the taming of humanity's inherent animalistic nature through rules, he thinks the bite of the vinegar too needs temperance.
buddha tastes the vinegar and grimaces at the taste, but does not spit it out, as he recognizes the truth of pain and the trials that one must face in their journey of enlightenment.
lao tzu, on the other hand, tastes the vinegar and smiles, just gulps that good stuff down. it's not that he doesn't taste the vinegar - in fact, that's exactly it. he tastes the vinegar in its entirety and, recognizing it as part of the beautiful world with which he lives in harmony, recognizes its unique beauty.
also he maybe wants pickles. but that's not related.
Screenshots of Harvey in the new trailer for Pickleheads, the upcoming sports mockumentary where he plays real estate agent Gayle Plankton.
Pickleheads is premiering at Austin Film Festival 2025, and Harvey's real estate agent character Gayle Plankton is looking haggard on the poster.
The homemade mockumentary “directed” by Arash Bardot (Vahdat) follows the weirdly lovable Barney Bardot (Bonner), who returns to civilization after a shameful, televised loss in Ping Pong eight years before Angus Caan (Cooper), which led him to recluse in the woods. Arash hopes for a “return to glory” story to save their family home from the estate agent at the door, Gayle Plankton (Guillén). But, with too much trauma surrounding his Ping Pong history, Barney cannot return to the small table. Fortuitously, they meet the sweet and savage community pickleballer Mia Presley (Froseth) and reconnect with Angus, who acclimates Barney back to civilian life and a new racquet sport, where he must best Hawk Kai (Eric Nelsen) and his past.
