Ian spent the first 6 years of his life in Las Vegas, Nevada. He doesn't remember much of his life during that time or his mother who had been loosely responsible for his care.

After intervention from his school, Ian wound up leaving Las Vegas and moving across the country to be raised by his grandmother who he had never meet or had known of her existence up until this point.

Ian's grandmother was a stern woman and while she scraped by financially owning a laundromat in Tilsbury, Massachusetts appearance meant everything to her and winding up with an illegitimate grandson didn't make her life any easier and she begrudgingly raised Ian under her roof until a spat in high school sent him to move out and stay with his girlfriend at the time's place until he was able to afford a place of his own.

Ian knows nothing about his father. Many men were in and out of his mother's life and his grandmother had lost contact with his mother long before Ian came into the picture. His grandmother raised him to believe his father was likely not a "good man" and left it at that.

To Ian's knowledge he has no siblings but he's not looked into his mother's life much intentionally. He feels he's chronically online enough that if there was family of his he didn't know about they would've reached out by now.

Ian probably would've excelled in school if he hadn't had an iPad shoved in his face the moment he moved in with his grandmother. She worked long hours and it was just easier to recklessly give him access to the internet from a very young age.

Even though his grades never reflected it Ian has a STEM oriented brain and if he ever were to "apply himself" like his teachers encouraged he might've made something of himself in the field of technology. He didn't though and as a result Ian is an armchair hacker and only ever used his talents to find teachers' answer keys for test or make girls who led him on artificially get shadow banned on social media.

College was never an option for Ian and while he begrudgingly graduated high school with straight C's his high school diploma didn't land him anything other than some manual labor and minimum wage jobs that hadn't yet been taken over by robots.

Big electronic music fan. He'll listen to ambient and crunk and everything in between. If there's a synthesizer involved Ian's probably listening. The more stimulating the music the less ability he's got to hear his thoughts. When he's in charge of the tunes at the vape shop expect him to put on something extremely overstimulating.

Loves video games. Having been born in 2015 he's nostalgic for a lot of the classics from his youth. He's more drawn to MMORPGs and games that are collaborative. He's not a huge fan of story driven games. If there's too much dialogue or reading happening he'd just put on a movie.

Ian is unfortunately a huge troll online. If he isn't ragebaiting someone in the comments he's probably on a forum finding someone else to cyberbully. While Ian would argue he only ever targets assholes who "deserve it". He has been known to make fake profiles to get back at exes and throw a couple of comments their way before finally moving on.

Dating. Ian had always been girl obsessed from a very young age and as a result he's dated his fair share of women over the past 27 years. While Ian presents himself as someone stoic, quiet, brooding, and routine he choose partners who are anything but hoping that the excitement they bring will add some fun into his otherwise boring life. So far dating people who are his opposite has resulted in half his wardrobe being destroyed, getting kicked out at a moment's notice, and being cheated on more times than he can count. His last ex who he was with before boarding the ship had felt like the final boss of crazy ex-girlfriends. He survived her terror but has Ian swearing off relationships and women all together. Maybe this will awaken his latent bisexuality or maybe it'll just cement his life as a bachelor either way Ian is actually not rushing into his next relationship for once.

Juneau was born to a very Portland family. Chill, liberal, nature-loving freaks who couldn't imagine a life outside of the Pacific Northwest, and Juneau was no different. The youngest of six siblings, they were given many examples of how to do life, and none of those options felt right for her. She didn't want to hustle for a career that would just destroy her physically and mentally. She didn't want to deal with people in the world who couldn't care less about others. She didn't want to be a cog in what could be considered the worst machine like, ever.

They went through life kind of aimless, a concern to their family. No career goals, no plans for the future...Just the hope that one day the world might become something worth their efforts. And they believed that one day it would be. But right now? It was all vibes, their spaniel named Nacho, and the consignment shop they managed. It was gratifying in the sense that Juneau was able to help folks in need, and it kept her afloat even in her anti-capitalist state of mind.

But then Starship MM-1218 came across their desk, and Juneau couldn't help but wonder...what if? They couldn't imagine leaving their siblings, niblings, and parents behind. But they always knew there was more world out there. What if they could be one of the first to experience it? It felt like a cosmic rebirth in a way. Juneau couldn't stop thinking about it, bringing it up in conversations, and assuring everyone in her life that she wasn't really thinking about it...Even though she was. And one day their family sat them down in what could only be described as an intervention.

They told her she had their blessing to go. They'd never seen her care so much. They all wrote her letters, sent her with a box of mementos, and promised they'd take good care of Nacho. And they assured them that they could get a Nacho replica on board. And with that assurance, Juneau boarded the Pigeon.

milo reed stepped onto the third-floor deck of the ship with nothing but a worn canvas backpack slung over one shoulder and the faint glow of his aqua cloud cosmo link pulsing softly against his wrist like a secret pulse in his veins. at twenty-nine, he carries the quiet confidence of someone who’d grown up in a sprawling chicago brownstone funded by old family money—trust-fund whispers that he never let slip past a polite deflection or a self-deprecating joke. he was never the type to flash designer labels or name-drop summer homes in the hamptons; instead, he wore faded band tees, scuffed sneakers, and an easy grin that made people forget he could buy the entire block he came from.

back on earth, his podcast static & starlight had been a cult hit among night owls and conspiracy theorists, blending sharp film reviews with late-night dives into paranormal lore and whatever juicy gossip the city’s underbelly offered up. he recorded episodes from coffee shops, rooftop parties, and once from the back of a late night bus ride, turning overheard secrets into episodes that somehow felt intimate rather than invasive. some people collect vinyls, others rocks, but milo saw himself as a collector of the stories of others.

leaving chicago behind wasn’t about running away from luxury—it was about chasing something bigger than any inheritance could buy. when the call went out for the voyage to mundus meus, milo saw it as the ultimate blank page: a floating world of strangers with stories waiting to be overheard, paranormal phenomena that might actually be real, and enough interstellar gossip to fuel a lifetime of episodes. he’d sold almost everything, kept only the essentials and his recording rig, and boarded without a backward glance. now, with the ship humming beneath his feet, he is ready to see what he can bring to the airwaves of space.

he has made up an entire backstory for himself and has yet to tell anyone his real story. for anyone onboard, he’s just a guy who got lucky with a golden ticket to space. if you ask him he’ll go “yeah some scholarship program involving space exploration something something details are boring.” then proceed to talk about something else. if you keep pushing he’ll say “orphaned, adopted by a loving couple that lives in florida, something, something. details are boring.” maybe one day he’ll open up to someone.

a part of him is thankful for that blasted pigeon. he doesn’t know what he plans to do with himself when they finally do land on mundus meus. but another part of him cursed that stupid pigeon, because he knows it’s only a matter of time before he get cabin fever.

Karma Tenzin was born on 9/11 2001 in Queens, NY and that's not some sort of tragic or interesting origin story, just her favorite fun fact about herself. The daughter of a Tibetan migrant and his born-and-raised New Yorker wife, Karma led an extremely independent life as a child of the city. After a brief stint at a college out of state (University of Washington), she moved back with her degree in Hospitality Management.

She worked as an event planner for a resort upstate for a while, and that's where she met her husband, Grant -- the son of the resort's owner. He was a couple years older than her, attractive, and the wealth was just a plus. It was a whirlwind romance, and they got married after five years of bliss. They were perfect together: an event planner and the heir to multiple properties always in need of event planning services, both of them loved the outdoors and hiking, and neither of them wanted kids. They moved into a brownstone in Manhattan, and were madly in love. It was a dream. That was, until it wasn't.

After twelve years, things started getting...strained. Karma didn't understand why Grant was getting weirdly distant. Even in couple's therapy, she could tell he wasn't fully opening up. Finally, on Grant's 40th birthday, he let it all out. He changed his mind about having kids, and he didn't know how to tell her. Karma didn't know whether to be more offended that he'd been lying or that he felt like he couldn't be honest with her. He said she was cold. That even if she did change her mind, he couldn't see her as a mother. And...while she was fairly certain she would never change her mind, that was still really shitty to hear.

They couldn't come back from it. And since her entire business was attached to his family's properties, for her own peace of mind she had to quit. So she left her beautiful brownstone and moved back in with her parents in Queens, and took a concierge job at a local hotel. She felt really lost for a while there..Maybe she'd reopen her event planning business as its own thing. Maybe she'd open her own bed and breakfast. Maybe she'd rot. But then a concierge job opened up on the MM-1218 and she thought...what do I have to lose?

mateo was a newborn when he was dropped off at the orphanage by his grandparents, who were unable to care for him after his parents passed due to a tragic accident. the accident? an accidental fire that spread too rapidly engulfed the house, all because a singular tiny candle was a little too close to the curtains. both of his parents passed due to complications from the incident.

then, at the age of six, he was adopted by two young newly weds (santiago & marco) into the ramirez family. they were a warm and very open family. he grew up with a full appreciation for the things around him. people, food, art, the ocean, animals, music and perhaps the biggest obsession of all…space. when he was just nine his parents took him to visit the nasa space center and it completely changed his world. he became obsessed with the cosmos, the life other planets hold, what it meant to be here in this planet. and from a young age his parents watered that seed, enrolling him in space camp programs, watching documentaries with him, overall just watching it blossom throughout time. he also had a really good hand when it came to baking, something he picked up thanks to marco.

but behind his warm smile was still that six year old kid that lost his parents. he loved his two father’s with his whole heart, but he often longed for the warmth of his mother’s voice. he would spend many hours staring at the last picture they had together and he wondered what life would’ve been like had that candle either been moved or never lit to begin with with. something for him shifted when he met his best friend at the age of thirteen. a girl, as quiet as a mouse, who had moved from overseas. getting to know her taught him that the world needs people who don’t mind being an ear to listen to. thanks to her, he began to understand that being homesick wasn’t always for a place but it could also be applied to a person.

when he heard about the opportunity to join mm-1218, he knew this was his calling—to help people not just on earth but in the cosmos too. for the first time, the vastness of space didn’t feel like an empty ache or a distant dream; it felt like purpose, like a bridge between the family he’d lost, the one he’d gained, and the unknown waiting out there. he was one of the few who volunteered himself for this opportunity, stepping forward not out of recklessness, but out of a quiet, unshakable certainty that this mission was the truest way to honor every piece of his story. and suddenly everything began to make sense.

Growing up in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Earth always felt so limiting to Burcu.

Born to Turkish celebrity royalty, her life was never meant to be simple. It was never meant to be regular. That wasn't who she was; why should she live as such?

She always said that she would visit outer space one day. She didn't understand a lick of astronomy, and science was never her strongest subject, but the mysteries of space enticed even her.

Even though she grew up being able to have everything she could've ever wanted at her fingertips, she worked hard to be accepted on MM-1218.

At first, everyone in her life thought she would be in hydrosleep. Sure, it crossed her mind. She had the money for it. But she didn't want to be asleep: she wanted to see the stars.

While it wasn't necessary for her to get a job, she had been quick to do so once learning about Seeing Stars. She'd be lying if she said it didn't excite her to do something she loved while traveling through space.

The pigeon, though... Part of her excitement has dissipated learning that it could be decades now before reaching Mundus Meus.

Already space travel has been an unexpected adventure. And who knows what else could happen now that they're out here.

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada to an English teacher and a Physical Education teacher.

Having two parents who were opposites of each other, yet loved each other greatly, she was raised to explore a variety of interests.

Ora grew up loving photography and music the most. From playing the flute in band, to singing mezzo-soprano in choir and show choir, to being the president of her school's Photography Club, her life was dedicated to capturing moments and making music.

Spent her adult life working as a photographer at her local Post Office for passport photos. It wasn't much, but it kept bread on the table.

Began to experience burnout the past two years. She felt uninspired with her photography and music, which left her family and friends worried about her.

Her father had been the one to tell her about MM-1218. At first, she'd been against the idea. Her, in space? It was something meant only for her dreams.

After a while, though, her heart began to yearn for this. At scary as it was to leave everything behind, it was something she craved: an inspiring adventure.

Gaining a job at the record shop, she couldn't believe how quick she was to feeling released; to feel inspired by all around her. Taking a variety of photos around the ship and of the world outside them, she can't wait to see what the next few years (or, well, decades) could bring.

Growing up in Hawai'i, Iris grew up inspired by stories of other worlds. From reading books, to writing their own stories, to watching movies and shows, to creating Dungeon and Dragons campaigns with friends, there was no shortage to their imagination.

Whether it was to become an author, to become a director, creating video games, or any other creative outlet, their head was always high up in the clouds. Gone from the mundane and into the unknown.

Throughout their life, they've traveled throughout doing a variety of jobs. Before they knew it, they'd done every single kind of adventure that Earth could provide for them.

Boredom began to settle in, and no matter what they did, Iris couldn't seem to find a solution to this problem.

And then, came MM-1218. While it'd been cutting it close to the departure date, they'd been able to find their way on board.

After spending an entire life engaging in stories in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and history, the opportunity to live in a real sci-fi world was exciting.

Now, let's hope that no one will be encouraged to shoot them off into space as their excitement grows.
