Jacob had long heard tell of the fabled Prince Finley. He was a prized prince who had been locked away in a tower by his family. It was said that any man who conquered the trials on the way to the tower and the trials within the tower would be able to have him as a husband who would be able to bare a heir. Some of the last lines of the story said that “he whoever saves the prince is to plant their seed in his fruitful garden”.
Jacob had fought many days, even weeks, to reach the tower. Finley’s family had certainly made sure that only the worthiest of champions would be able to reach the tower, let alone climb it. But Jacob had come prepared, besting the best fighters using quick wit to solve the toughest of puzzles. The king was dirty, his armor clanking as he made his way up the last steps. He swore, as he climbed, that he could hear the prince in the rooms above him, walking around seemingly blissfully unaware of all that had gone on around him.
