Shouto looks away from the children playing soccer at the park and to the young woman next to him. They both have been sharing the shade of a tree for nearly half an hour now despite not bearing any knowledge about each other. The Begonia Meadows is bustling with delighted life today and while it may not be Shouto’s choice of scenery, he finds the weather far too pleasant for him to pass up the opportunity of going out and reading in its healthy glow. Apparently, most people saw it through his eyes as well because almost every tree at the park was occupied by several families having picnics together.
He’s lucky that the girl who’s been sitting by herself for who knows how long is nice enough to let him have a share of the cool shade she’s enjoying. Just from her physical demeanor alone, Shouto can tell she doesn’t have a single mean bone in her body. Her presence almost reminds him fondly of his close friend Momo, except this one appears to hold more innocence and fragility than his friend.
Shouto puts his book down on his lap. ❛❛This place?❜❜ He questions the obvious, disagreement on his tongue but not on his expression. As pretty as it is, Shouto couldn’t help but feel wary of being here. He still has yet to figure out how he was taken from his own home to a place where everything just seems too perfect to be a reality. The first day he woke up in his new unfamiliar apartment, he found two bags of soba noodles on the kitchen counter. How the hell did they know he likes soba that much? That pricks a smudge of paranoia in his chest.
