Types of flexible water supply pipes
Braided Nylon Flexible Pipes
Braided nylon flexible water supply pipes have a reinforced braided outer core and a solid PVC inner core. They are usually white in color. This type of water tubing is suitable for both hot and cold water supply lines. They can be used for most fixtures, including faucets, toilets and more. Nylon flex hoses are very flexible, so they can be purchased long and easily looped as needed. They come in a variety of lengths, and the mounting nuts can even have winged levers that allow you to tighten the nuts by hand without the need for a wrench or pliers.
Stainless Steel Braided Tubing
The surface is a shiny metal with a textured, fabric-like appearance. This type of utility hose is flexible, but not quite as flexible as braided hoses made of nylon, PVC or with polymer coating. Braided stainless steel is typically the most expensive option for flexible supply hoses, but it is also the most attractive and durable.
PVC flexible hoses
They are very similar to braided nylon flex tubing. This type of flex pipe is often the least expensive option. But even though they are cheap, they are very flexible and offer amazing strength and ease of use. They are suitable for hot and cold water and are a great, cost-effective option for faucet and toilet connections alike.
Polymer coated flex pipes
Polymer-coated flex tubing also has a PVC inner core, but the outer material is made of polymer-coated fibers. These tubes look very similar to braided stainless steel lines and, like them, are highly resistant to corrosion. Also, like steel braid, they are a good option when a high-end appearance is desired, such as in exposed areas under a toilet or sink. Unlike stainless steel hoses, however, polymer-coated hoses are very easy to bend and loop if they are excessively long or if you need to compensate for a large offset between connections. Another difference is that this type of flex tubing is very inexpensive. Like all other flex lines, they are compatible with hot and cold water, so they can be used for many applications.
