S.O.S.! Need help S.T.A.T.!!!

Guys, this is, like, a real emergency. Does anyone know of any pit rescues along the east coast? The short version of this depressing story is my aunt is probably going to lose her battle to cancer very soon. Two months or less, soon. She has three dogs; an elderly dachshund, elderly toy fox terrier, and a pit-mix that’s about three. While, don’t get me wrong, I’d love to find a ‘Senior Dog Sanctuary’-type thing for the dachshund and terrier, but the dachshund is honestly past his time and the pit-mix still has so much life left in her, so that is a major priority. My aunt lives in North Carolina so ‘take it to a shelter’ just isn’t an option. Hurley (pit-mix) was actually her ex-boyfriend’s dog, but, well, let’s just say he’s 'ex’ for a reason. And when my aunt tried to get rid of Hurley when they broke up, she found out that most North Carolina shelters (in her area, at least…) promptly put down any pits they take in. She doesn’t have any friends or family that can take any of them in. I personally would love to, but I just can’t.

Okay, so I really meant to keep it quick, but I got over-excited. Basically, the actual short version of this is I am in desperate need of information for somewhere reliable that can take elderly dogs and more importantly a pit-rescue along the east coast. My aunt is in North Carolina and I am in New York so we can more-or-less get about anywhere. If anyone has anything please let me know!

Moving home with mom means...

I get to apply to adopt for doggie adoption

Mama feels like the house is too quiet…

Bro doesn’t want anything but Bailey (which I feel we all basically agree on).

But I do feel as though it will help us along the grieving process… Especially bc stinky old Bear doesn’t quite cut it.

Nothing will replace my baby girl. Ever. And I do feel somewhat guilty for even looking at other pups…

But knowing that there are a ridiculous amount of pups (especially pits) out there that need rescuing it all just seems to make sense.

But I can’t help but feel a huge emptiness during this process.
