Here is the new series!! I’m doing pieces based off of the Major Arcana, with each card getting a god. I’m trying to base it off of personality more than aesthetic, so there won’t be obvious ones like Apollo as The Sun or Artemis as The Moon. I can’t wait to do more of these, though they take days to finish oof.

Explanation for card under the cut!

So I will admit part of the reason I put Hades as The Moon is because I was running out of cards to put gods on. HOWEVER, there is some connection here!

Hades has some connections to the upright version of The Moon. The Moon is a very mysterious card by nature, which I thought related to Hades. I also personally feel The Moon is representative of death in some way, or at least an unconscious loss or change. That is my personal interpretation however, so take it with a grain of salt. Overall, The Moon is very much about the unknown, which I think fits Hades as the God of the Underworld.

However, I think what fits Hades personality better is actually the reversed meaning of The Moon. This represents a waiting game, full of confusion, fear, and misinterpretation. I feel that, at least in the Percy Jackson series, Hades has been characterized by misinterpretation and fear. He is misunderstood and thought to be the lightning thief, He is feared without proper cause, and he purposefully misinforms Nico in the fifth book. What’s also important is that Hades is almost always playing the waiting game. He is waiting for his brothers’ approval, his seat at the council, the right time to enter the titan war. You could even say that death itself is the longest waiting game :D

These characteristics are why I chose The Moon as Hades’ card. It might not be the best fit, but I think there’s enough there for a strong connection.
