After 1 year, my HTC Desire stopped working. It went on a loop of reboot then won't even start up. Since HTC is not really a common phone here in the Philippines, I had a hard time having it fix due to complicated reasons I can't even understand. And since I am so stressed out with it because I rely mostly my life on it (lol) I mean, I update my tumblr there, log in to facebook and twitter, check my mails, send SMS, watch youtube videos so particularly everything!! I bought an impulsive replacement which I ended up sort of regretting just because although it's ayt and does the job.
Bla bla bla, so due to some not so important reasons, I have to turn over my new phone to my sister, so I decided to apply a postpaid plan to Globe and before doing so, I read a lot of blogs about their experience, and guess what? None of them are positive!! They are all complains about how slow the process was, how incompetent the customer service representatives were, how the requirements are complicated, the hidden charges, the slow activation, the delays of bill, and mostly the signal. Despite of all the things I read I still opted to apply for a plan just because... lol!
So how was my experience? Rest of the story after the cut!
December 17, 2012 I went to the Globe Center and submitted the form and the requirements, actually since I don't have a payslip yet I had my mom applied for me. She submitted an ID and our bank statement because she isn't working either. After submitting the requirements we were told to wait for at least 3-5 days for the approval of the plan. I am actually expecting it to be longer than that because that's what I read from most of the people's experiences.
December 18, 2012 my mom received a phone call regarding the verification of the information but she isn't around so I answered the call and pretended to be her (sorry!!!) mostly because I am also the one who answered the form and that she doesn't know anything about the information I placed on the plan! And then I asked my sister to pretend to be me to answer some of the questions for me. I was then advised to wait for 3 days before my plan to be process of some sort.
December 19, 2012 I am on training when I received a phone call from Globe saying that I can pick up my phone on the Center because it is already available, they tried calling my mom but she isn't answering the phone so they called me instead. My mom picked up the phone and paid 999 as 1 month advance.
The activation of the sim card usually takes 24 hours, in my case after 5 hours my sim card was ready to use for phone calls and messages at least because the Unlimited Surf can be use after 24 hours which is ayt because I don't need it that much.
December 20, 2012 my sim card was fully activated and I can fully use the features. I got the Unlimited Surf Plan 999 with duuuh Unli Surf, 1 freebie and a consumable of 400 pesos and free Blackberry Curve 9320, the freebie I chose is the My Super One. I was also informed that my cut off period is every 20th.
Some notes to consider before getting the plan:
The 1 month advanced can't be used immediately on the first bill, it can only be used if you are planning to switch plan or on the last month of the contract.
You have to pay an amount on your first bill which will be computed by the days passed from the activation to the cut off period, in my case from Dec 19 - 20 so 2 days. So I have to pay 64 on my next bill even though I didn't used it at all!!!
I am not the one to pick up the phone so I didn't have any chance to ask about the things I don't understand. But props to the CSR on 211 because that is where I got the information I am typing here so maybe they aren't as incompetent as other people are saying or maybe not all of them anyway.
There is no way for you to track your remaining consumable and that is so stressing can you believe that I was advised to monitor it myself?! I mean WTF is that?! Should I count everytime I send messages or call? That's just stupid! You have a way though to check how much you used but I don't think it's reliable because for days my Unbilled charges was 0.00 but I am using the consumables already! I even call their attention and they said that that's what the system was telling them, I haven't used any consumable yet. So okay then if that's what you said but I am pretty much sure I texted a couple of times already!!!!
When I am still on prepaid, the signal is just meeeh in our house most especially in my room, whenever I am calling someone or vice versa there is a always a tendency for call drops, but when I switched to postpaid the signal even on my room is even on 3G! No drop calls delayed messages whatsoever!!
All in all, I am so happy with the decision to switch postpaid, I don't have to always worry to load and register to unlimited text services and all that hassle you are doing with prepaid sim card! It is sad though that I am not utilizing the Unli Surf plan that much though because when I am at home, I'd rather use the Wifi but it is super helpful when I am travelling to work! No more boring rides! I am in love with Globe Postpaid as of the moment maybe because I am just on my first month or maybe not all Globe Service center sucks!!!! I am just wishing that they don't charge me with things I don't even use because I will be the one paying for my line!! Grrr
