Best of 2022 TV Shows #1: The Orville: New Horizons (Hulu)

For Seth Macfarlane his little show that could somehow managed to do the unthinkable.

Be the best show of the year.

All it took was a new network partner, upgrades in effects, story and quality to bring us some very compelling sci-fi.

With the timeline reset the Orville crew pick up the pieces and strained relationships in the process.

While not showing it, hurting most is the Kaylon Issac having burned all his bridges with the crew including newbie Charly who directly lost someone based on the attack.

But what this actually does is gives a real reason to root for the unthinkable.

Like Issac and Claire going the distance.

A peace summit between the Union and Krill that unfortunately dove into real world issues resulting in a coup.

Bortus going through the wringer of fatherhood with Topa and identity issues with his race and mate.

Kelly with mentoring an asylum seeker in the ways of the galaxy.

Lamar seeking advancement in command and love with his and Tallas unexpected connection.

Even Gordon who is given TVs single best episode this year as he unexpectedly makes a life for himself in 2025 Pasadena.

Pure wonder is brought within these 10 episodes.

11 if you count the Audible novella.

But if this is the last time we get to see the crew, we might as well take Gordon Malloys advice from his James Taylor Cover.

“Since we’re on our way down, might as Well Enjoy the ride.”

Oh, we enjoyed it Seth we certainly did.

The Orville Uniform - TS4cc

After the long awaited release of the third season of Orville, I decided to try my hand in making the uniform for any of you who wanted to roleplay your favourite space explorers in the Sims 4. The set includes:

The uniform jacket and tee combo (complete with four colours (excluding admiral purple), insignias of each career pathway and rank epilates (from ensign to captain)

The uniform pants (in engineering orange, security red, command blue and medical green)

The USS Orville, a mid-level Exploratory class ship in the Planetary Union fleet with a crew complement of 300.

Anybody got headcanons on why the Planetary Union seems to be led by humans?

Is it just that since Ed is humans he only interacts with human admirals?

Or why were the only humans in the council military representatives while the other species were not in uniform?

There should be a difference between the Earth governing body and the Planetary Union leaders, right? Kind of how presidents and United Nations representatives are separate.

Most union ships are staffed my a single species, but the human ones are mong the most accommodating for other alien species, that's why there's a couple aliens on the Orville, but the majority of the crew is human. (These crew members might be from underrepresented species, like the Xeleyans.)

There's little protocol on dealing with Moclan conflicts bc Moclan captains deal with it quietly.

Bortus is clearly a progressive Moclan, so this might be the reason why he's not on a Moclan ship.

This episode is so sad man 😢😭 I love Gordon so much. Why is he so obsessed with living in the past when he has so much good in his life??

I was actually thinking about that idea earlier today, that someone could be living in the future surrounded by amazing technology and have no problems whatsoever but still be really unhappy.

Like the girl Gordon "dates" points out that she's only unhappy because she has to work at Macy's to earn money for her apartment rent. What she really wants is to be a singer for a living and you can tell Gordon is like confused, like what? Why not go be a singer then? Because in his time you can literally do whatever job you want without regard to earning money because a house and food and clothes and goods are a guaranteed right basically. 🤷‍♀️

So Gordon is this amazing pilot, the best in the fleet, he has great friends, all his needs are taken care of via replicator and his high ranking position in the Planetary Union. And yet, he's still ridiculously unhappy and lonely. Makes ya think.

The Orville - Identity Part II

Got to be the most awesome episode I’ve ever watched thus far! Watching the epic space battles is like watching a hybrid of Star Trek and Star Wars!  Although I kind of wish Teleya showed up but nonetheless, it’s still great! I’ll give it a 10/10!
