This is both a Feature and a Flashback for Friday because we’ve followed Maris Hare on Instagram since I can’t-remember-when, and I am finally* posting this gorgeous Solar System necklace made by Maris for her company Naturalists Cabinet.

Here’s more about her process:

Every piece is hand crafted from start to finish from eco-friendly materials, and using wind powered energy. Each piece is traced from an original design, cut out, and the images and patterns on the front and sides are carefully drawn with wood-burning pens. They are painted with ink and/or liquid acrylic, and the backs are finished with decorative paper. All pieces are varnished for a glossy, water-resistant finish.

Multicolored necklace of polymer beads circled by colorful wires and little "planets"

For just $40.00 When I finished the multicolored beads for this necklace, they did not seem to have enough enough color (believe it or not) so I added fun wire in purple and strung that wire with small iridescent beads that could circle the large beads like planets. With handcrafted jewelry, you can just create away! The purple accent beads are also made of polymer and the whole necklace seems to be in motion around your neck.
