so I'm going fabric shopping next Monday, starting to think about Con in July. Even if I'm not working a party I'm still gonna make a costume or two.
The two I'm mostly thinking about (Chiana from Farscape, Gozer from ghost Busters) are pretty detailed, but if I can make the base of one I can easily make the base of the other. So basically 2 body suits. Never done that before, but ok.
Chiana is a charcoal gray bodysuit with a v neck, a few black sequins in places. Not sure if I'm gonna use real or faux leather on the top and sort of chaps? I found some grommets on Etsy that I'll order once I make sure the size is ok. I need new face paint, but I have the wig and it just needs a little attention. And boots. And gloves. And elbow/knee pads. And a holster for my gun.
Gozer looks relatively easy. I already know that I'm sure as hell not doing red contacts, so I'll probably do a slightly more updated version of the costume instead of going for screen accuracy. Also I don't want to cut my hair that short right now. Light nude body suit, find some nude boots with pointy toes, neck wrap thing, lots of pearly makeup. Glue/sew all kinds of shit all over everything. Looking at detail photos it's literally some thin mesh bits, iridescent bubbles with jewels inside some, some other shiny plastic bits, and silver tinsely thread thrown in. I think we can improve that slightly, and also just like finish the edges of things because damn.
