I’ve been watching this show Players on Paramount Plus, by the people who made American Vandal. It’s a mockumentary style show about a League of Legends esports team. Overall it’s more drama than it is comedy, though it is funny - especially all the silly LoL terminology and names, and some of the lines are very deadpan and funny. (I don’t play League of Legends but I am familiar with it, but I don’t think you need to be.)
I found myself getting really involved in the story and the characters, who are over the top and yet somehow feel real and complex. I don’t know, I didn’t think I’d be this hooked on it, but I’m just very invested in the characters and think it’s well written. Anyway “Players” is the most generic name ever, so even if anyone else out there likes the show too, I don’t know how we’ll find each other. So I’m counting on you, my followers, to give it a shot.
