Dear Restaurants, Bakeries, small businesses that deal with food, and to any one else this may concern:
Please list ALL known allergens that are in things, even if they’re ingredients you don’t think about. I had a trace of almonds in my catered lunch at work today and let me tell you what happened as someone who is highly allergic to almonds and tree nuts: I had to race to the pharmacy to buy extra medication, couldn’t breathe very well and my medication was making me all fuzzy so I had to take the rest of the afternoon off work, I spent the majority of my afternoon alternating between sleeping and in the restroom. Let me tell you how bad my head, throat and stomach hurts. How I’m cramping and having serious pains all because almonds were present in my lunch. When I looked up the restaurant’s menu & allergen sheet, not a single thing I ate had a flag for tree nuts, yet there were some present. Not even a warning that said “processed in a facility where tree nuts are used”. This is potentially deadly. Do better. Label things. Even if you don’t think it’s a big deal, it could be life or death for someone.
