in 2024, alaska had 724 violent crimes per 100,000 people. that's the highest out of any state (usafacts, https://usafacts.org/answers/what-is-the-crime-rate-in-the-us/state/alaska/)
also, their population as of 2023 is 97% documented, 58.3% non-hispanic white, AND only 7.75% foreign-born (data usa, https://datausa.io/profile/geo/alaska)
let's see if that trend shows in any other high-crime states..
well, it certainly shows in tennessee! 2024 violent crime rates of 592 per 100,000 people (usafacts, https://usafacts.org/answers/what-is-the-crime-rate-in-the-us/state/tennessee/), and a non-hispanic white population of 71.5% as of 2023 (data usa, https://datausa.io/profile/geo/tennessee)
it also shows in arkansas. 2024 violent crime were 579 per 100,000 people (usafacts, https://usafacts.org/answers/what-is-the-crime-rate-in-the-us/state/arkansas/), and non-hispanic white population as of 2023 is 68.4% (data usa, https://datausa.io/profile/geo/arkansas).
though, for fairness and to be completely clear, it does not show in new mexico. in 2024, the violent crime rates were 717 per 100,000 people (usafacts, https://usafacts.org/answers/what-is-the-crime-rate-in-the-us/state/new-mexico/), and as of 2023 their non-hispanic white population is 36.5%, compared to their hispanic population of 48.2% (data usa, https://datausa.io/profile/geo/new-mexico).
however, overall, we may be able to see that a lot of the times (or at least 3/4 examples i have shown), many states with high violent crime rates also have high white populations. so why do we continue to blame hispanic, blacks/african americans, undocumented persons, etc for the crime rates?
i will not answer that question, and whoever currently reading this may choose to answer it how they will.
