Unseeing
It was Lance’s birthday, and he was patiently waiting at his little apartment building. He went to check his phone again, to see if maybe they had to raincheck. You see, he had invited all of his friends over for some ice-cream cake and some beer. He was really excited when all of his friends had told him they’d be here. His birthday was the only day of the year he could actually be happy, instead of putting on a mask and sending fake smiles. The brunette’s phone started to ring, beyonce’s music filling the room before he picked up the phone. “Hello?” He answered hopefully. “Hello my dear boy! I am truly sorry but I will not be able to attend your gathering, I have accidentally broken a leg and am placed in the hospital over night. But once I get out, I’ll make sure to make it up to you! I promise!” Coran chirped cheerfully, always so lively in Lance’s eyes. Lance chuckled happily as he responded. “I hope you’re okay Coran! And there’s no need! Im sure the others will show up soon!” He said cheerfully before ending the call. He invited his friends to be over at 9:30, and it was 10:30 now. ‘Im sure they’re just running late’ he told himself again. He decided to put the cake in the freezer so it wouldn’t melt, and decided to call Keith. Ever the blunt one, he’d probably tell Lance if he was still coming or not. So it was decided, the tan male dialed Keith’s phone. Instead of an answer though, he was sent straight to voicemail. A crease in his brow formed as he frowned slightly, trying again and getting the same treatment. He sighs before sitting down on the couch. 'Maybe a show or two will pass the time. Because they will be here, I know they will’
2 hours later. And still nothing. Lance shook his head, curling up into a ball and finally let the floodgate loose. 'They aren’t coming. No one cared enough anyway.’ He sobbed into his knees. He doesnt know how much time has passed when he hears a soft knock at the door. Lance slowly gets up, wiping his eyes and checking the time. It was now 12 am. He opens the door to reveal a hyperventilating Hunk and a huge blue stuffed lion. “Im so so sorry I’m late buddy! Its just I had bought you this scrap book and filled it with pictures of all our time spent together but then Pidge’s dog ruined it and I had to find something super last minute and– and why are you crying?” Hunk’s rambling is cut to an abrupt end when he hears Lance sniffling. Theres a soft whimper as the brunette looks up at his best friend before he whisper’s the words “You came..” He sounded so sad, so broken and worn out that it was enough for Hunk to Immediately scoop him up into the biggest bear hug he could muster, walking inside with the bear and kicking the door closes, all while carrying his friend. Hunk ever so carefully sets Lance down on the couch, rubbing his back soothingly. “What’s wrong? Where is everyone?” The bigger male asked softly. “They never came” Lance’s sobbing had grown harsher at the addmission, his face turning into Hunk’s soft chest as sobs and shivers racked through his body. “No one ever came…”
