5:53am, Tuesday; I need to write this down quickly before it fades. The same motives as experienced in the last dream sequence with tiny differentiating factors were present. Partially lucid? I did not realize it was a dream at first, but it was a rather vivid experience. Maybe lucid isn’t the right word to use here.
My eye darted around frantically, desperately looking for any sign of an opening in the distance, but none were to be found. As the feeling of dread became more and more apparent in the silence expanse, the temperature would gradually fluctuate and become much more frigid. I tried to open my maw to exclaim my rising panic, but the skin would not separate or even form seams as much as I attempted to pry it outward.
I heard a voice then. It was disembodied; distant, but surprisingly near. Soft laughter that was quiet as a murmur, yet boomingly loud in the barren abyss. Almost every contradiction that could come to mind…it was unbearable, and that fact seemed to be acknowledged by the entity within the scape. The laughter proceeded to multiply by tenfold upon realization of my distress, and I nearly blacked out then and there from the amount of stress on my mind, if it were not for the visage that had befallen before me.
I saw myself.
The creature wearing my skin simply cocked its head, bearing its jagged row of knife-like fangs at me between grotesque, parted skin, as though the conditions would heighten my state of shock and fear. It arched forward, widening its ravenous eye which darted around its face, as if scanning my state. The presence simply scoffed in what seemed to be disapproval, grimacing before extending a single claw towards my chest.
“You’re a fucking embarrassment. Look at you.” The voice quaked, putting pressure on the talon slowly before it punctured through my body. I wanted to scream at the amount of pain coursing through my being at the time, but my jaw would still not respond to my commands.
The double remained silent as its expression loosened, letting the second talon jabbing into my chest do the talking. I began spasming, enveloped in total dread as the claws began raking downward, liquid trickling down from the wounds as the doppelganger simply smiled at my state of despair. I found my vision gradually blurring as a loud, shrieking noise found its way into being.
My jaw had finally parsed itself forward, the scream being that of my own making in the waking world. I then scattered to find this journal and began writing this down.
[The next few following lines are crossed out, and a small blurb is written below it.]
Could this reoccurring entity be a possible member of my species? It appears to look like me, though its mannerisms appear largely malevolent and bestial in comparison. It would explain why the attacks continue to occur every new moon through people’s dreams, even though I am restrained every night. I am uncertain if I can manage it, but I am going to make an attempt to enter the dream state deliberately instead of succumbing to it, to see if I am able to confront this being before it confronts me. If it is the least I can do for the town after all this trouble I have caused them in the past, then it will allow me to rest easily for once in my life. Proving my innocence to Johnson and the council is secondary before solving this.
