Why You Should Never Fix Your Own Water Heater
This may be out-of-topic but I feel like it is my responsibility to share this story with you. So my friend Rob discovered that there’s no hot water coming out of the shower. Since he’s into DIY plumbing, he tried to find out what the problem is so he can fix it himself. He has been working on his plumbing fixtures for years now, handling broken pipes, leaking faucets and damaged showerheads by himself. Since he has been quite successful in keeping his home plumbing at tip-top shape, he thought that he would get through this plumbing emergency without calling professional plumbers.
He first checked his shower system which was working just fine. He traced the water supply lines and found no leak whatsoever. Finally, he went to check his water heater system in the basement. And guess what? He forgot to turn off the appliance before checking the parts!
To cut the horrible story short, he got electrocuted. His water heater tank was leaking and he didn’t notice the pool of water on the floor. As he was standing on it, he checked his water heater and touched something that triggered the electricity to shoot through his body. It was really terrible! Fortunately, his wife found him right away and called the ambulance.
I couldn’t believe it myself. I know most of us want to do things on our own especially when we’re confident about our know-how. But when it comes to plumbing problems (especially ones that involve appliances), it is always best to just call the most trusted plumbing experts in Boston MA. They’ve undergone years of training and have rich on-the-job experience. They would know what to do and how to do it right. If you are looking for a plumber now, try Plumbers 911 Boston.
