TYSM IN ADVANCE AND I HOPE THIS BLOG GETS LOTS OF TRACTION SOON!!!
ALSHFSGHJKSH HI BEE - I’m sorry this took me so long, I’ve been caught up with other stuff and honestly my writer’s block is so bad right now, so this may be half-assed at best. I do hope you like it though! ♥
The sounds of clinkingand idle chatter filled the place along with a lingering scent of cigarettesmoke, making Hitoshi cough a bit as he raised his hand to call for thebartender. “Another scotch,” he asked without hesitating, even if he hadalready downed another two glasses - he wasn’t feeling the alcohol yet, butmaybe he didn’t need to.
It had been a long andhard week but now, in his favourite bar and with his favourite songs playing,it felt as if all the weight had been lifted from his back. He sighed, knowingthat sooner or later he’d have to leave his peaceful haven, but as he lookedaround something caught his attention; someone he had never seen around, someone with a dress as red as a rose and sad expression, elbows on the tableand a few shot glasses beside them. He wasn’t sure why, but he stared.
You didn’t seem to noticethe attention as you glanced at your phone and then back at the front door, andas Hitoshi saw you letting out a long sigh and quickly wiping your eyescarefully with a napkin he came to the conclusion that something wasn’t right there. Looking up, your gaze caught his andhe held his glass up with a smirk but you didn’t return it as another man satin front of you and made you turn around in surprise. So she was waiting for someone, he thought, but before he couldturn back towards the bar he saw you still looking at the door while thestranger tried to talk to you and he realized that he wasn’t the one you wereexpecting.
With a sudden rush ofadrenaline running through his body he got up, glass in hand and frownreplacing his neutral expression, and as he approached your table he could seejust how tense you really were. “Excuse me,” he said with the most serious tonehe could make, “I think this is no place for you to be bothering a woman likethat. It’s obviously not welcome on her part.”
“And who the fuck are youto say that?” the other man spat out, bothered that his moment with you hadbeen interrupted. “We were having a good time, right honey?” Both men looked atyou but you could only look away with burning cheeks. Hitoshi had to clench hisfists tighter to avoid hitting the man right there, also trying not to cause ascene.
“I think it’d be best forher if you just left, unless you want me to call security to do the job yourlegs should be doing.” The man just stared at him like he was crazy beforegetting up while muttering a few insults towards you and Hitoshi as he left, which almost made him chuckle. Turning his attention back to you, he hesitatedfor a second before sitting on the now empty chair, and he heard as you let outa silent breath that made him wonder how long had you been holding that in.“Are you okay now, miss?” he asked, careful as to not push your boundaries bystaying firmly pressed against the back of the seat. “He didn’t do anything toyou, did he?”
You just shook your headand seemed to be trying your best to not look at him in the eye. She’s got pretty eyes, he thought as hegave you a gentle smile. “No, it’s just… my friend was supposed to come overbut I guess she forgot about our meeting. It’s okay, I’ll be fine – thank youfor helping me with that douche too.”
With all that hadhappened in less than ten minutes, it was no surprise for Hitoshi that you might’vewanted to be alone, but he was about to have none of that as he signalled forthe bartender to bring him another drink. “It’s for me, don’t worry,” hereassured you, and for the first time that night you smiled back at him as younodded lightly; he hoped he could make you feel safer or for you to know thathe wasn’t out there to harm you in any way. “If you don’t mind me being honestwith you, I wouldn’t have expected a girl like you to be out here all alone. Notthat it’s a bad thing, it’s just… you don’t seem like the type to come to barslike this.”
“And you don’t seem likethe guy who’d come to save the girl in distress,” you retorted with a chuckle, somethinghe found to be quite contagious. “But luckily you don’t seem like the weirdtype either.” A comfortable silence settled between the both of you as a waitercame over with his drink, and he took the chance to gaze at you once more, drinkingin your features and memorizing your face well. “I might need to get myself oneof those soon,” you said with a playful tone as you pointed at the scotch infront of him.
“Not a good choicehonestly, I buy it out of lack of anything better.” You locked gazes for barelya second but it was enough to make him feel like his face was burning – he didn’thave time to even wonder if it had been just the alcohol in his system or yourpretty face as your phone started ringing, and you signalled for him to waitwhile you talked. Your voice was low but he could tell you looked angry, and hedowned his drink in one single sip, placing the glass back on the table withhis hand still holding it before you sighed and hung up. “Is everything okay?”he asked, and then he felt a small wave of dizziness that prompted him to closehis eyes.
One of your hands wentstraight for the one he had on the table, but when you seemed to notice youractions you withdrew it; he hoped you would’ve left it there a bit longer. “It’sall good, but it seems like you’re not in good shape right now.” Concern tintedyour tone and Hitoshi couldn’t help but feel guilty, guilty that he had worrieda pretty girl whose name was still a mystery to him and that probably would noteven think twice about him. He felt pathetic, if he had to put a label on hisfeelings. “Is there anyone you’d like me to call to pick you up? I could stayfor a while if you want, it’s the least I can do.”
“Just… get me a glass ofwater please,” he replied meekly as he brought his gaze back to yours, and thenit was your turn to blush despite the distressed expression that was plasteredon your face. “This is nothing – I haven’t been drunk in a long time, you don’thave to trouble yourself with this if you don’t want to.”
He truly waited for youto leave. He half expected you to just call the waiter and pay for your ownstuff, but when you didn’t it was something completely new for him. “I can’tjust leave someone who looks like he could use a hand with getting back home,”you said with a shy smile. “Besides, I haven’t even gotten your name yet.”Extending a hand, you waited until a very confused Hitoshi grabbed to shake itand add, “I’m (Y/N), nice to meet you.”
“Shinsou, my name’sShinsou Hitoshi.”
The way you repeated itsounded like the most beautiful song he had ever heard, and for the first timehe didn’t stop to ask himself if he was doing the right thing. Beyond thealcohol, beyond the giggles, beyond everything that should’ve been stopping himthen, it just felt good. You weredefinitely someone he’d want to see again, someone worth being sober for.
