Shirley Gnome's Big Reach Around
It wasn't so long ago that Shirley Gnome was the winner of Canada's biggest prize purse for an independent comedy competition. Yes everyone, she was the winner of Patrick Maliha's People's Champ of Comedy 2012. Before we were selected to be one of the 60 participants to be part of the competition, the online registration asked "How are you going to spend the $20,000 if you won the competition?" I answered "I hear the Ecto 1 from the Ghostbusters is up for sale." Wouldn't that be cool sitting in my garage? A broken down old school hearse with no mechanical potential whatsoever? However, Shirley Gnome had a much better idea. Sure, I personally don't think its as cool as the Ghostbuster car idea, but it was a pretty damn good idea. She decided to invest her prize money into her comedy. Which leads into tonight's event known as "Shirley Gnome's Reach Around." Tonight at the Sin Bin, Shirley will be hosting her CD release party with performances from this year's People's Champ winner, alongside Colin Lamb and fellow People's Champ finalist, BadAsskatoon.
