Podonacks was suppose to be different + Future
Hello everyone!
If you guys don’t know what the blog is about, it’s about a documentary of the development of Podochi Attack now known as Podonacks, as it’s now the final name for my very first project. This is a document containing all of its development history for the project and many other facts that you didn’t know about how the project was going to be compared to my final one that I haven’t finalized yet. Let’s dive into one of the development timeline of Podonacks shall we?
Early History
Podonacks dates back to late 2020, in which the original name of the project was known as Podozhi Evolution. Podozhi Evolution is set in a fictionalized version of the 2000s in the city somewhere in Northern California thus the name was Sunny Hill Heights (if I could remember that name back then since I kind of have a bad memory of knowing stuff). In this project, all humans, anthropomorphic domestic animals like dogs, cats, rabbits, frogs, etc. and other unique creatures around the city live together in the city of Sunny Hill Heights akin like the one where all Toons and humans live together like in the 1988 movie “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”, as well where some anthropomorphic animals and other unique creatures reside in one city like the “WarioWare” games.
The visuals and style for Podozhi Evolution was going to be inspired by The Amazing World of Gumball, Space Jam, and even Who Framed Roger Rabbit (as I mentioned above), since the project was going to have a live-action like environment onto the 2D characters that I draw in the background.
The art style resembles mostly 2000s cartoons especially for the human designs as well for the other species in this project, if you have recognize many Cartoon Network shows from the late 90s to the early 2000s, this is one of the main inspirations of coming up with the style that I tend to design for many of my characters here. The project’s main protagonist is of course the fire-headed guy named Podozhi, an energetic and optimistic middle schooler who loves skateboarding and doing many of his excellent stunts though he can be quite reckless at times since his stunts have a 25% rate of success. Podozhi has his human friend and his partner named Seven, a twelve year old human boy who is described as the sensible as well as the voice-of-reason in which he tends to give many of the morals and advice to Podozhi.
I originally planned for the project to have a live-action like environment onto it, but I scrapped as I find the visuals and the environment onto it to be rather unfitting and unoriginal as this one has already done in many media that uses this type of environment, thus resulting me to switch over of having backgrounds drawn by me in order to correspond with the style that I tend to come up with, thus resulting of redesigning characters like Podozhi and Seven respectively.
I originally was going to plan for this project to be a full webcomic series with comic strips being posted every week but I soon stopped making it and replaced it with my new projects right after the very first page that I published and soon faded into obscurity and soon became lost as I probably deleted every of my old projects right after I replaced them with new ones at the end of 2020.
About year later I attempted to do this again this time the project was known as Buckley Wiremater as the project uses some elements taken from Podozhi Evolution but the name was immediately changed from Buckley Wiremater to Buckley Buddies since I find the premise of Buckley Wiremater to be too unoriginal and I felt like it not reach it’s quality than I expected to be, thus I changed the roles for many human characters now becoming a background or a minor character to the project. In which it soon became its own series starting with six characters though I established four more characters (up until April 2022, in which I had to change up a little bit). Buckley Buddies (renamed to Buckley Station in December 2021), was based on my childhood years in the early 2010s, all of which of them are based on one of my Toontastic videos that I did back when I was a kid as well as many of Plushtubers that i watched that gave me some inspiration on created this project, my webcomic has been splitted into two versions one for the earlier series that features characters before it was given a complete overhaul and the one in which it is a complete overhaul to the original comic that I just did under the name Buckley Buddies, sadly the very true first comic strip of the Buckley Station wasn’t seen at the light of the day of the prototype of the strip was created a couples months back as I started to begin to lose interest on developing this project right after I created an announcement back on my old account from last month.
To be honest I felt like that all of my future projects under my old accounts were too similar to each down to the premise and the visuals for each of the respective projects that I made, thus resulting me to merge my first project Buckley Station and some of my future projects to form into Podochi Attack.
Podochi Attack Development History
I originally plan to make Podochi Attack as the final name for this project, but I soon found out for myself that this was actually just a prototype for the name of the project right after the merger of Buckley Station and a few of my future projects that have some similarities to my aforementioned first project like I just said above. It is considered to be an early prototype of what it will become before the final name of the project was revealed.
The prototype of the project was completely different from the final version of the project in which I will reveal the final version of the premise pretty soon, there are at least two different prototypes to the project.
First Prototype:
The first prototype has the exact same premise as Buckley Station, with many elements being borrowed from my older project known as Podozhi Evolution as well for the other prototype of Buckley Station which is Buckley Wiremater. The project was originally going to take place in Northern California known as San Toritino which is located between San Francisco and San Jose, in which it is a city where all of the many unique species live here alongside with the humans as well. The project was originally going to be a black comedy sitcom with surreal humor being slapped onto it.
The project stars Seven, who is a middle school boy who is a big fan of the famous comic book known as Hyper Bolt Taylor as he is shown to be a great illustrator who dreams of becoming a comic book artist and an animator in the future, one day Seven met a feline-like creature named Podochi, an anxious but curious orphaned feline who doesn’t meeting new people around him due to his fear of people since they oftentimes teased him for a vast amount of reason from it’s unpopularity status in school and in the orphanage. Seven soon befriend Podochi and together the duo will face many challenges in life as their goal is to survive in middle school as many of these days will never be the same especially whenever an important situation is happening depending on the plot for each of the following episodes for this project.
There are few concept arts that I did before I moved over to my second prototype, only the secondary character designs for my main project were completed, however the primary character designs were not published as I didn’t have time to finish it.
Here is a concept art of the secondary character designs for the first prototype of Podochi Attack:
I originally planned to make Seven as the central protagonist of this project but I soon changed his role as a deuteragonist and soon was taken over by Podochi, who is now the main protagonist of the project. Here we now move on to the second prototype of the project
Second Prototype:
The second prototype is just like the first prototype of the project but it has a completely different premise compared to the first prototype, with the differences now having a complete redesign of the characters above that they were going to be the secondary characters in the series, but I moved their roles as the main characters instead. I also have given these characters a bunch of new designs that you might haven’t seen before. Please take a quick look below:
Prototype Poster
You might be wondering why I labeled the posters as a prototype. That's because the final name for the project has not yet been revealed. There are a few early designs of Relic as well for Violua, which all of them can be found on one of my social media accounts like Instagram, Twitter, and Tumblr.
The premise for the second prototype takes quite inspiration from the early prototype of the project known as Podozhi Evolution, and like I just said Podochi is described as an energetic and outgoing rodent who likes skateboarding and wishes to become a pro-skateboarder in the future. The setting of the second prototype remains the same as the first prototype as it takes place in a fictional early 2000s in the city of San Toritino, where every human and any other unique species resides here. The original premise was going to split into three separated arcs as a trilogy, each of one will star one deuteragonist per arc and by the second arc it will star a deuteragonist to the next as this project was intended to go to the Digimon or the Ape Escape route in which after one season/arc a new protagonist will star in the corresponding arc.
The deutagonist human characters (which are all males by the way) play a supporting role into the project as well for the games, although most of the deuteragonist designs were on sketch but were never published. I originally planned to start off as simple, everything seems to be normal until one day many of the living snack creatures known as the Snackins, began roaming around the city causing chaos led by the project’s main antagonist, Werehoax. Who demand every Snackins to wreak havoc across the city of San Toritino. While the project will play an episode format of the Snackin of the week, as the series progress Werehoax would have taken his advantage on conquering the entire Bay Area and demand his Snackin troops to attack the human race by the third arc as this premise for the third arc is inspired by the 1984 movie known as The Terminator and everything would wrap up after Werehoax defeat for one last time.
But there was one problem to this project during its development, I find these character designs to not meet it’s quality on what I expected to and the target audience doesn’t seem to have match up to what I can imagine, because I find most of the designs to be very unappealing to me and I did not really like the look at my designs at first, because the biggest problem with this premise and the context of the project itself was that it didn’t actually fit for the demographic as the designs of the characters look like they belong into a children’s cartoon for children under 8 years of age. (even though I still don’t like the “it’s made for kids” excuse by the way). Besides this project was never designed for kids but was designed to appeal to everyone as I don’t want to give off this excuse on dismissing this statement as a whole.
So I would proudly introduce the final name of the project, in which it is called Podonacks.
Podonacks takes inspiration from my earliest project on my three year old social media account in which is the aforementioned Podozhi Evolution. This project will feature many of my old characters including a few characters that I made some changes for my project, and of course this project is based on my childhood years in the late 2000s to the early 2010s, just like my project known as Buckley Station before the merger. I’ve been rewriting some of the non-human characters so far as I only did two of them which are Podochi and Menelope (now known as Macaron). I planned to bring back a bunch of my old characters that I did back between 2018 up until 2022. But for now I will end it off here.
The Future of Podonacks
I planned to make many of the webcomic pages of Podonacks every Saturday starting on December 3, 2022, as well for it’s animated series and a tie-in video game for the project, even though Podonacks is still in the process of establishing new characters as well for the lore of it.
If you have any questions regarding the Podonacks. Feel free to DM me or send an email to me at [email protected]. Other than that, I’ll see then.
