Poem Dedication to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin
(Sorry about the age error)
I think back often to yesterday
Music from the good old days
Aretha Franklin used to say
Yea they say it’s a man’s world
But you can’t prove that by me
And as long as we’re together baby
"Do Right Woman, Do Right Man"
Surely you can understand
Aretha knows how to keep it real
Tell it like it really is
Her vocals are phenomenal
Her lyrics are empowering
The soulful sounds of a queen
Always dominate the scene
Lookin’ out on the morning rain
Ahoo, I used to feel so uninspired
When I knew I had to face another day
Lord it makes me feel so tired
But you’re the key to my piece of mind
Sing it Aretha one more time!
"You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman"
Lyrics of love and sweet harmony
I wish I had the chance to hear and see you perform before me
To millions around the globe
Everybody knows who Aretha Franklin is
She’s been giving us great songs for many years
Aretha’s songs have me sometimes in tears
After I wiped the tears from my eyes
In 1967 she brung it on strong
" I Never Loved a Man, The Way I Love You
Generating emotional and extraordinary tones
You got one that you’ll never lose
The way you treat me is a shame
How could you hurt me so bad
Baby, you know that I’m the best thing
Countenance of a woman’s love and hurt is told
Then the grooving sounds of "Baby I Love You."
More soulful funky rhythm started to roam
These songs traveled through the world like a raving storm
" A Rose is Still A Rose"
You know how that song goes
Aretha sing those soulful blues
"Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves"
Now there was a time when they used to say
That behind every great man there had to be a great woman
Now in these times of change
You know that it’s no longer true
So we’re comin’ out the kitchen
Cause there’s somethin’ we forgot to say to you
Aretha Franklin I like how you do
Then came Chain of Fools" and "Respect"
Aretha Franklin gave us her best
Sweet sounds of " Call Me" went like this
It really doesn’t hurt me that bad yeah, ahooo
Because you’re takin’ me with you
It’s because I love you, I love you
Aretha Franklin thank you
May the Lord always be with you
Telling my ex’s what they did to me
Sometimes it hurts to love so bad
When you know you’ve given all you can
Sometimes it hurts to even laugh
You do your best but its still much too bad
Sometimes the pain is just too much
Aretha thank you for keeping it real
Telling it like it really is
Your music reveals how I used to feel
Then another hit claim to fame
Promised myself after the first romance
I wouldn’t give you a second chance
Said you seek, you’re sure to find
But the closer I get to you baby
You drive me stone out of my mind
Save me oh, yeah, save me yeah, yeah
The rhythm of soul and soul of rhythm
Aretha Franklin I’ll always remember
The Queen of Soul is gifted and unique
I’m so glad you ventured into the mainstream
It seems you took the path created just for you
The stage is your castle and the microphone is your noble sword
Your wonderful, beautiful inspiring and empowering lyrics
I listen closely when you sang
Your vocals got me clapping my hands and stomping my feet
Lifting my arms to give God the glory
Your voice moved my spirit my queen
The other day I watched you on video singing the First Noel
At 71 years old you’re elegant, gifted beauty and extraordinary voice shall
Tell a tale of heartfelt, heartbroken, joyful compositions everywhere
"Bridge Over Troubled Waters"
And friends just can’t be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
Like a bridge over troubled water
Praise him one more time!
" Someday We’ll All Be Free"
Of the songs I love the most
Sing it Aretha all night and day long
I take pleasure to have you around me
My lovin’ arms would love to squeeze you
Ooh bay take it, I don’t want to tease you
Whatever he wanna do I wanna do it with you baby
These songs drive me crazy
It reminds me of yesterdays
When our people were black and had a dream
Aretha your vocals are so intense and accelerating
Don’t get mad and get flaky
Cause this dance you don’t know
Let Aretha show you how it goes
Queen of Soul takes the floor
