to my poetry class:

I was having a pretty crappy day, but you guys turned it all around. A lot of times I feel misunderstood and bitter when opening up about my illness, but I felt like some of you deeply understood my physical and mental trauma. Little things, like the “ily Priscilla” with colored in hearts, written and said words of human empathy and love was really powerful to me. It was a simple poem. But you guys understood so much.

And I also loved the poems you wrote for today-- it really shows how poetry reveals what cannot be fully explained. Thank you guys for sharing your vulnerabilities and creative minds.
