if you are planning to read more of plath i really recommend the rival, tulips and black rook in rainy weather! fun fact—those, especially the last one, are my emotional support poetry, and black rook is just very calming and i like to mouth it over and over in unfamiliar situations or sometimes just because. iʼve recently just been reflecting on how much better everything is in general and after a long time i think i am happy alongside and happy despite. anyway how are you?? favourite poetry?
thank you sm for the recommendations 💞 the rain was only for one day but it’s been quite chilly and gloomy lately (very odd when it’s supposed to be spring) so i’ll try to read these while the weather is still like this. edit* unfortunately the weather is back to sunny and sticky days :/
i love the concept of reciting poetry, i hope one day i’ll be able to resonate with a poem as much as you have~ sadly i don’t have any favourite poems / poets because i’ve not read enough to have favourites (though i did find an ode to a large tuna in the market hilarious). the ones i’m studying in class are a bit dull and lacklustre :/ that’s why i’ve been asking for poetry recs to fill the void :’)
i’ve been doing well, not quite great but not quite okay, just well. my thoughts and feelings have been bottled up for too long that i really should journal or write again mm... however! i’ve been trying to stay positive despite certain circumstances and lately i’ve started to feel more grateful for the world around me :) really enjoying feeling more positive these days, it’s a good feeling, who would’ve thought? much love~

do you listen to slam poetry? do you have any favorites?
YES, YES A MILLION TIMES TO BOTH; most of them are centred around being queer or mentally ill but all of them are incredible & even though it’s a somewhat contrived word, all of them are powerful.
Clementine von Radics, “The Fourth Step” “Kim Kardashian Redux” and “Advice for Teenage Girls with Wild Ambitions and Trembling Hearts” – I love all of Clementine’s poetry but she just has such a way of delivering her slam poems that I’m always left in awe. It’s so gentle and yet–
Sabrina Benaim, “First Date” – I know this one by heart from watching it so much, I just relate to to everything she says so much. Probably best watched in juxtaposition to her first slam poem, “Explaining my Depression to my Mother”
Karina Stow, “Trigger Warning” – probably my absolute slam poem in the world, the actual structure of it is so clever but her delivery is the strength and what makes it chilling.
Jill Greenseth, “Jill Born”
Wyatt Fleckenstein, “Labels”
Sibel Sayiner and Violet Trachtenberg, “Pride”
Kevin Kantor and Sienna Burnett, “Phases”
Aratti Warrier, “Witch Hunt”
Ren, “Eleven Things You Need To Know About Deaf People”
