🌺🌋🌴 Quarantine Quickies #020🌺🌋🌴 I got to thinking about how life now is so much different than just a month or two ago. The news talks about "the new normal" and how some things will henceforth be very different. In Hawaii, particularly on the island of Hawaii, this is the second time in as many years that life-changing interruptions have occurred. Starting in May 2018, lava errupted in Leilani Estates and the surrounding areas in a number of fissures. Some fissures were small, some were large. Some had minor effect, while some were devestating. You can see the lasting changes in Kapoho, Pohoiki, and Isaac Hale Park. The image I am sharing here reminds me of the abruptness of sudden change. Lives cut short, regular activities curtailed, changes of plans. This is a simple shot of the picnic area at Isaac Hale Beach park obliterated by the lava flow, but I think it's a good metaphor for what we're all going through right now. Hopefully we come out of this a little better off, a little more empathetic to our fellow humans, and a little more appreciative of the little things that make life so worthwhile. Dedicated to all our friends on the Big Island for the advanced lesson. #onebreathphoto #underwaterphotography #volcano #pohoiki #siaachale #madeofocean #hawaii #hawaiilife #hawaiistagram #aloha #bigisland #naturelovers #natgeo #海 #自然 #nakedplanet #earthpix #fucovid #fucovid19 #pele (at Isaac Hale Beach Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_vvU6fhOH-/?igshid=5thllmd9x5tr
