AuthorityShipping fanfic without a name
just wanted to say that English isn’t my first language, but I wanted to try anyway
no one ever taught me punctuation
Just another normal, stormy day. I hear the ringing phone. Again. But I won’t pick it up. I can’t pick it up.
My name is Maxie. In the world where I live there are soulmates. There isn’t any particular way to recognise your soulmate, you just feel it when you meet them. But the soulmate system isn’t perfect, it makes mistakes. And I’m the victim of it.
There is a person who thinks I’m the one for them. But it’s not true. I don’t feel anything like this. They tried to kiss me many times and I always said no. And when they asked me if I would be their boyfriend, I just ran away. Now they try to contact me by the phone, but I never answer it.
And here I am. In a little house with only my pokemon. What am I waiting for? I don’t even know. The nightmares haunt me almost every night. Some nights it gets so bad that I almost pick up the phone. But there is one thing that stops me.
It’s her. She appears in some of the nightmares. She saves me. I don’t know her name. I don’t know her appearance. Even though I can see her clearly when I’m dreaming, when I wake up, she just disappears from my mind.
The phone rings again. It’s not even annoying over time. It sounds rather sad and lonely.
Suddenly I hear quiet knocking on the door. I can’t hear it clearly because of all the rain and thunders. What do I do? It can’t be them, right? They’re calling me on the phone now after all...
The knocking comes again, this time it’s a bit louder. I take a deep breath... and I open the door.
It’s a quite short woman in a sweatshirt, the hood covers her hair.
“Hello... I got lost... I was wondering if I could stay here... Until the storm subsides,” she says.
“Y-yes, you can stay,” I reply. After a while I gain courage to say more: “Your clothes are wet, should I borrow you some?”
“It would be nice, thank you,” she answered.
I walk into my room, I take my clothes out of the wardrobe and I hand them to her.
“Thank you,” she says once more, avoiding eye contact.
“You can get dressed there,” I say pointing at the door to the bathroom.
When she goes to the bathroom, I start making tea. I wonder who she is... But I get a weird feeling when I’m looking at her. Does this mean something? Or is it just because I haven’t seen anyone lately? I hear her coming out of the room, so I put the cups on the table and I look at her. At her short, lilac hair and eyes in the similar colour.
And then I realise. It was her. She was the one who saved me so many times in my nightmares. I remember now.
But there is another thing I have just understood. Could she...
Could she be my soulmate?
We sit down at the table. She breaks the silence. “So... What’s your name? I’m Courtney.”
“My name is Maxie,” I reply.
“I wonder... Why do you live in a place like this? There is nothing here,” she asks.
And then I tell her everything. I tell her about my soulmate problem, my nightmares and her saving me. She seems really touched by my story...
When I finish it, she walks up to me and she just hugs me without a word. We stay like this for a while. Then she whispers, “I think... I think I’m the one for you.”
When I hear this, I blush deeply. After a while I respond, “I-i think so too.” Then she kisses me.
I was finally saved. The hope I kept for so long fulfilled its role. I will never hear the ringing phone again.
