NYPD Officer Michael Williams killed, 8 officers injured in police van crash
Michael Williams, 25 and recent graduated from the police academy, was killed in a police van crash early Sunday morning.
Eight other officers were injured in the crash. The police van was driving in the Bronx when it crashed into a highway divider along the Bruckner Express. No other vehicles were involved.
NYPD Chief Philip Banks said all Williams "ever wanted to do is become a police office," News Day stated in an article. "It was a dream come true that he was able to serve in the department," he said.
Williams was part of the police family and the news was devastating.
"Today's going to be a difficult day for all New York City police officers," said Lynch, president of the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association.
