When you show up at Glide, you are asked to meet the people sitting near you and talk about why you are there. We were there for the #policingpolice panel discussion. But why did I go? People that know me well know I have love for everyone and that hate and racial bigotry has no place in my world. Because silence is acceptance. Because education and change are needed. Because I live in and love the #Missionsf and San Fransisco. Because our children deserve a better, safer future. Because the #friscofive had the courage to go on a hunger strike for 17 days in a brave and successful way to change things. Because @equipto @sellassiefrisco @eglindo @ikeyp415 and many others continue the fight. Because of Sir J Anthony James, his father & mother Candace. Because of Marlon, @vonnymommy Joaquin, & Navah. Because of @kellymabbott & Kymani. Because of Eric Rager, Denise Collins-Rager Marah & Jason. Because of Kevin Rager, @ky_rb and little Evin. Because of @jenbreezy73, Ray Moore and their son Imani. Because of the generous souls of @papalote415 @nina_parks and the amazing work they do for our community. Because enough is enough and because of the deep love I have for all the brown and black members of my family, my community and the world. They deserve a better future. This amazing young lady opened the show with her poem dedicated to Black Men. I learned a lot, especially when @wkamaubell gave up his seat on the panel to an African American SFPD Deputy Chief from the audience. And I will be sharing that info we learned and the actions we all can take tomorrow. (at GLIDE)
