The meaning behind JASKIER
Jaskier – a flower of the genus Ranunculus; buttercup; is a cognate with a Polish word ‘jaskrawy’ meaning ‘bright’, ‘vivid’, ‘flashy’, ‘brilliant’. Also have a common origin with ‘jasny’ meaning ‘light’ and ‘iskra’ meaning ‘spark’.
Jaskier is a stage name of the famous bard and in the Witcher Saga, his real name is a secret revealed only in the last book.

So you’re probably familiar with the term “bumblebee” and what’s behind it. And let me clarify that it’s one of the most adorable names for a living being I’ve ever heard. But in Polish we call this flying little thing “bąk” which is (completely incorrect as our “bąk” in reality is a butterbump) written and pronounced exactly the same as Polish “fart” and these little flying farts really scare me because of their loud ass buzz.
